Hi Tea,
No, I don't avoid checking. As if I do it gives me a false sense of hope. Which isn't great for health or my DFW journey. I agree, I sometimes dislike looking but I have to face up to the music and just deal with it. I can't and won't continue to live on spending money that isn't technically mine.
Personally, I think you should check. Then question, did you need to spend the money? Could you live without whatever it was you bought? I try and use a rule if I want something, I let myself think about if I need it that day or if I can wait until I can budget for it.

This has been my tactic previously. Now look at my signature. Do you want to be there? Probably not.
Have a look at the statement, see what you have bought. Is there anything you can return? Every little helps!

You clearly spend some time on these boards maybe its time to post an SOA?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Oh yes, I used to be like that and then I found myself in such debt that I had to have a DRO and although I consider that it saved my life (it really did) - it was a bit of a struggle for a few years. You don't want to go down that road.
What to do next is face reality. Start to write everything down (that is something I totally avoided in the past). Incomings, outgoings - everything (a SOA - Statement of Account that sammyjammy, above, has asked about). That way you will find out what you can afford to spend and what you can't.
Are you paying something off every month? Even if it's just the minimum payment for now? As Naomim says, is there anything you can return?
I'd also cut up that credit card. Then start paying it off. Don't be like me, I was never all that serious about my debt, stuck my head in the sand - and it came to bite me hard in the you-know-where. I learned lessons the hard way but now I do know how to budget and I check all statements regularly. Especially bank statements, as I have the app on my phone and there's no avoiding it, like I used to do before. You have to teach yourself that you don't need all the extra things you thought you did.
First step though, take a deep breath and look! Also, good luck! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
