Had a leak coming in to our front bedroom after all the rain last week so looking for recommendations of a roofer or even ones to avoid.

I've used Penrose a couple of times for repairs. No problems, no fuss.

I've used David Stewart a few years ago, and he did a good job at a reasonable price at the time.

I contacted Penrose a few years ago and despite telling me several times he was on his way to view the roof, he never showed. Also tried dmzincroofing in dungannon. He messed me about for 2 years. Originally quoted me £4500 and the week before he said I was next on the list, he came out ( for the first time ) and now wanted nearly £8000. I didn't proceed!Advanced NI in Bangor were next. They drew a sketch of how the new roof would look. On the first day of work, the joiner said he couldn't do it like the sketch, but I was reassured it would be okay ( I had water coming in ) so went ahead. Problem after problem. Got no invoice, no warranty and refused to fix leaks. £6000 down the toilet. I wanted to get it inspected before parting with money. They threatened to rip it off. The worst experience of my life ( and I have been through divorce )I have no idea how you go about getting a trustworthy tradesperson anymore. If you have success, post it here in case someone else can make use of the info. Good luck!1

Thanks for the replies everyone.
We have been recommended a roofer who should (hopefully!) be coming out over the weekend.
You are right - it is hard to know if you are being ripped off or not, and that is after you go through the whole tradesman not turning up problem which I have had issues with in the past
