How to complain to Financial Assistance Scheme.

I have a pension that went to the FAS when the administrators of it went into liquidation. I was contacted by Legal & General before I knew it had gone to the FAS, they suggested as the pension company was no more, I had a choice to get a small, non increasing pension from them or get nothing.
Later I received a letter from FAS saying the company pension scheme had been approved and would be paid when I reached retirement.
I was given a figure at the time of between 5k and 6k PA for this pension.
I have been now told I will get no pension from the FAS at all.
How do I take this further?

What explanation has been offered by FAS?
