Laid Off

After months of being sent home from work early and being furloughed occasionally my boss told us all on Wednesday we were all being laid off and we are not going to be paid because there is no money left in the company, the company is not in administration he is looking for someone to invest in the business. Looking on the gov website it says we should get Guarantee pay, is this right ?

It depends on what your contract says about lay offs, but it may be a moot point - if they have no money to pay you then they won't have money to pay you guaranteed pay either. But based on no information about your employment, what you may or may not be owed is pure supposition. What do you want to happen?0

Sounds as if the business is close to collapse. The owner is attempting one last throw of the dice. You'll need to wait for the business to be formally declared insolvent before lodging a claim. The appointed administrator will be in contact regarding unpaid wages etc.1
