People's Energy

Hi. I put in for a supplier switch on 5th sept from OVO to People's Energy, but they have now said they are no longer trading. So I spoke with OVO and tried to cancel the switch but they were unable to raise an objection due to it being 10 days before cut over period. I tried to contact people's energy but they have an automated answer when calling thei main number. So when I called the emergency line I was greeted with a rather disappointing response of sorry we can't do anything. But in the meantime I have cancelled my direct debit which was to start with people energy.

What I would like to know is come the day of the switch, who will supply my power and who is going to bill me.

I'm seriously hoping that I won't be cut off for something that is totally beyond my control.

Any help or advice would really be welcomed as very panicked but this.

Thanks

Ofgem are still deciding who will take over from PE

    You won't get cut off.

    Sit tight and await contact.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

Thanks - even though Ive cancelled the DD with People Energy? Just concerned that neither Ovo or PE will be able to bill me for power?

No that's fine. Someone will be along in time to tell you that they have been appointed to take over form PE you need to set up a direct debit. When it's announced who's taken over you will probably find info on here or just google 'who has taken over from peoples energy' on a regular basis and you'll eventually find out.

As I said. Sit tight and await contact. Never heard of scammers in this situation but when you are contacted search google and check that's who Ofgem have appointed.

I'm with Utility Point so in a similar situation (3rd time in this situation for me and I've not yet had to buy candles!)
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

No maybe not need to buy candles, but all of our money is going on fuel.  It's becoming a serious problem and are we really to sit in the dark?  Someone needs to do something.
  • In the meantime I've tried to switch to Sainsbury's Energy (part of E-On) so I am awaiting details of that. It may well be thrown back at me, but the deal is the best about at the moment for 2 years so needed to jump on it if I could.

The transfer will be blocked. You cannot switch when there is a transfer of supply already in progress. Your supply  will move to PfP and then on to the SoLR. Trying to get around the system - which is focussed solely on keeping a supply of energy to your home - will make the process that much more complicated.

Hi.  Thanks to you, I ran a quote and Sainsbury's was cheaper than E S B.  I stopped the transfer and joined Sainsbury.  I got 6000 Nectar points too.  The odd thing is, Sainsburys did not come up on price comparison websites I checked.  Good luck with your stuff.
