First time buyer house insurance

  • OK now here is the problem, there are going to be 6-8 weeks between exchange of contract and completion. I am required to have house insurance in place before the exchange of contract. However, the ones that I have spoken to say that the house must not be vacant more than 30 days, since it is more than 30 days between start of policy and me living there, they cannot give me insurance.

    What do it do now?

It won't be vacant if the present occupiers still live there.
  • But it won't be *me* living there, isn't it?
