Ideas for food on xmas day?? Please help!

Hi all

Got my xmas meal menu planned out, however family aren't turning up until midday, therefore our main xmas dinner will be about 3ish.

I would like to serve up something to snack on around midday but have no idea what I can do?

Would love some ideas?

Thanks

  • What about buying those little tiny buns and making mini bacon, sausage, egg (mayo for easiness?), mushroom, tomato open sandwiches. Sort of like breakfast/brunch canapes?

would go nice with a bit of Bucks Fizz/Fresh orange juice.

not sure yet what we're going to do (depends on finances) but possibly either croissants with ham, cheese and scrambled egg or croissants with scrambled egg and smoked salmon in.. or even rye bread with cream cheese and smoked salmon (OH adores this).

the way i do the ham cheese and scrambled egg one is to cut the croissant in half, so you get two crescent halves, toast both sides, then put a layer of ham on the bottom, top with some slices of cheese, pop back under the grill so the cheese melts a bit, then, when the scrambled egg is ready, put scrambled egg (cooked with cream, the delia way) ontop of that. Top with the other crescent half and eat. Its messy, so make sure you have a plate to catch the bits that fall! Tastes gorgeous though!

for croissants with scrambled egg and smoked salmon - just make scrambled egg (delia has a similar recipe that uses a brioche instead of a croissant - i just prefer croissants) and snip bits of smoked salmon into it. stir and serve with warm croissants.

Just make sure they don't eat too much or they won't eat their lunch.
How about small mincemeat muffins, warm cheese scones or small sausage rolls

What about a late morning cooked breakfast? That way no need for anything at lunchtime?
