FTB mortgage advice needed

Hello everyone, im a long time reader first time poster. I currently earn 16.5K and my wife earns 10.5. She missed a couple of store card payments at the beginning of the year while i defaulted on a credit card 7 years ago but have long since paid it off. Im looking to get a mortgage for 90k.We currently have a 10k deposit. Ive tried all the comaprison tools and calculators on the internet and have a rough idea of what we can afford. All our credit cards are fully paid each month. I have a loan with Clydesdale which i will finish paying in august. We are looking to buy a house around March.

Sorry for the long post, any info/advice is much appreciated.

Thank you kindly,
Sam.

They are guides but not reliable. Many just stick to the old income multiples.

What do you want to know? Have you seen a whole of market mortgage adviser to verify what you can afford and how your poor credit history is going to impact on how much a lender is willing to lend you?

  • I haven't spoken to a mortgage advisor but i will do just after christmas. I just want to hear your opinions ie. whether its a good idea to get a mortgage or to carry on saving for longer.

You require a 90% LTV mortgage, at just over 3x joint mortgage, and have a sizeable (10%+) deposit. You should have no problems getting this mortgage. Whether it's wise to do so in todays climate is another matter.
