Mrs E and I have made £45 in free big river vouchers this morning through R3ddit referrals. I may pay mine into my SIPP6

Kitchen sounds gorgeous Ed. How is puss cat?4

@Alchemilla - a bit of a false dawn I'm afraid. I took her to the vets for a follow up appointment this morning and what I had thought was the beginnings of a scab was actually matted fur that was sealing in jets of pus
A quick horror movie later and the vet had sent us off with another week of antibiotics and some disinfectant for daily cleaning of the wound. Another £56.19, that's us up to £285 and climbing (plus another tenner or so for cat litter, cotton wool balls etc.) I honestly don't know how people cope without insurance. The limited silver linings that I can identify are that the cat seems brighter, has been quite affectionate during her enforced confinement and hasn't tried to remove the cone of shame with any real conviction. She also takes medicine like a champ.
Mrs E is feeling very squeamish as she's at the later stages of her pregnancy, but hasn't yet clocked the fact that the cat is clearly going to be indoors for 1.5-2 weeks minimum. We have multiple cat baskets and throw covers that will be getting chucked after this episode, so probably £50 or so cost reflected there as well.

Hope your cat recovers soon. Sounds awful.

We had 3 £25 wins with the PBs, which is above average luck for the month, didn't stop me from withdrawing £27,500 to pay into Cha5e for a guaranteed £34.xx a monthA very long week at work even though it was one day shorter than usual. Painter has been in today and while his prep has been very thorough, he turned up nearly an hour later than planned and I'm worried he will not finish tomorrow. He'd better get a shift on, flooring fitters coming on Monday! No baby yet, meant to be any day now.11

Exciting re baby. Painting and tiling - all sounds fab. Very brave having it done so close to due date.

A day of two halves.Painter turned up a little later than we would have liked, one wall keeps bubbling and his chosen solution was to cover it with lining paper. I'd have liked him to ask us what we preferred, as I believe a stain blocking primer would have resolved it and we wouldn't have minded paying for this. As this delayed him, he's going to have to come back tomorrow for a third session, not really what we want at the moment. Then the good bit, where Mrs E and I went out for a lovely late breakfast and had plenty of scran, great coffee and a nice chat. We then picked up a few cheap party supplies for DD's upcoming birthday and went to a local hipster beer shop where we spent £50
In my defence, I've never been there before and got a little excited and I'm choosing not to drink any until the baby is born anyway, so I'll be well behaved.
We then came home, where Tabby cat decided to vomit and **** all over the floor in DD's room before jumping on our bed, covering me in it, covering a bath towel in it and running through the entire houseI had to clean the carpet 3 times, change clothes, Mrs E has stripped the beds, the blanket she ran to and the towel now need a boil wash and I am sick to the back ******* teeth of animals
Honest to God, when you're trying to grab a panicking, **** covered cat from under a table by the tail (which is also covered in ****) before she leaps on your new couch, you know your day is going badly.
I received a student loan refund this week of just over £100. I've spent that and our PB winnings on a £74.99 top-up to the Emergency Fund and £101.24 to my SIPP (£126.55 after tax relief). I think this year may beat last financial year, I've already made nearly 20% of the contributions made during itMrs E isn't getting any top-ups as c. £600/month will be going into her pension as off the 28th of May.
Can someone pat me on the head and tell me everything will be ok please?Edit: Just updated as the swear filter doesn't seem to be working?!9 -
Sorry about the cat bad luck. That sounds horrific.
