ed - I used to have one of those 'holey' pizza trays. Mine was round, non-stick and I guess probably big enough for a 12" or maybe 14" pizza. I don't have it anymore...........

Mhhh... apparently the majority of quick/instant yeast sold in the UK features an emulsifier. This isn't great, as one of my main considerations before buying a breadmaker was to try and reduce our intake of UPF. Has anyone found a reliable organic alternative that doesn't use an emulsifier? I'm struggling to find anything smaller than a 500g packet, which would past its best by the time we finished it

I took part in what appeared to be an experimental AI study from the usual provider of my filthy lucre. It wasn't set up properly and I gave up after c. 50% of the intended time. I was awarded 35% of the maximum reward under Prolific's "dynamic reward" system, which isn't great. I reported it but suspect it won't go anywhere (it's probably AI reading the reports). As such, I'm still a little short of being able to withdraw £6.
I have also had a couple of Y Live surveys over the last couple of days and am only £5 away from my next £50

Try Bioreal - I think it was Shipton or Skipton Mill(s) that sells it in small cubes - I'm not sure if they are under 500g but they are small 🤣edinburgher said:...Has anyone found a reliable organic alternative that doesn't use an emulsifier? I buy a box of 12 x 42g cubes of fresh yeast and freeze them (since our local Tesc0 stopped giving out fresh yeast for free 😩) - each cube is wrapped and then I double bag them in the ikea freezer bags. Texture changes when you thaw it, but it still works. (Not sure if you can use fresh in a breadmaker? - I've only ever made 1 loaf using a breadmaker, tbh, but I dislike using dried yeast for handbaking)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £204

I think the 500g dried Bioreal is looking like my best bet, I don't think fresh and the breadmaker are going to get on. Food shop done, £81 at Mr L, which felt like good value. No meat, but big things like a litre of EVOO, bulk multivitamins etc 👍🏻4

The yeast we use is the blue saf-levure which only lists yeast as it's ingredients. We buy the 500g tubs and the yeast has a long shelf life. It does need activating in warm liquid before use. We pay £6 for a tub.
No idea if that helps or not.

I use the Bioreal instant yeast from Shipton mill online. You can get the small packs, but I get the 500g bag as I make bread and other stuff all the time - you can blast through that in 6 - 9 months. I wouldn’t want to keep it for more than a year though as it stops being so effective)2026 decluttering: 86 🤑🥉 ⭐️

Thanks @QueenJess, that product is looking like the realistic option. I will still use up the existing instant yeast we have, give me time to save up for the Bioreal! 😅 Good to get a vote of confidence re. The relative longevity of the bigger container.
@Baileys_Babe - that product looks fantastic for the price! I don't think it would work for us, sadly, as we often use time delay on the breadmaker5 -
When we had a breadmaker the time delay function was used frequently, it was lovely to come down to freshly cooked bread in the morning.
Now we use the stand mixer or OH does it by hand, not something I will do as I have problems with my joints.
Either way it is good to be able to choose what goes in our bread.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
