Our youngest was the same Ed! It just didn’t click and he stopped wanting to learn. We took him out loads on a tagalong bike so we could still get out as a family and took his stabiliser bike on camping holidays with us. One day on holiday he announced he was going to learn without stabilisers and got on his brothers and rode off round the site- which was amazing until he realised he couldn’t reach the floor and stopped by crashing into a holly hedge. He came back up the site sobbing and demanding that his dad took his stabilisers off for good.I think a break will help and building confidence in other physical activities as well 🙂MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Our ds2 did the same powers - just decided one day he wanted the stabilisers off. We had let him go around and around a flat open area with his big brother and he was confident. I said no, because he was 3 years old, but ds1 took him to a neighbour who took them off for him and sure enough he was fine!
I think round and round on a flat open and safe area during a long summer holiday was helpful, as was the sibling and kind of forgetting about it - just letting it happen. Your daughter sounds sporty and I'm sure it will click!
Edit to say DS2 now has a whole load of armour, knee pads, elbow pads etc for his dirt biking. I went OTT and got him a jacket with spine protection. Honestly, he looks like a michellin man!
If she was really scared, the elbow and knee padding might etc make her feel more confident and then just gradually decrease the need for it.Save £20,000 in 2025. April 2k, May 3.5k5 -
For future washing machine cleaning Ed, you could try washing soda and vinegar (separately), as recommended here: https://moralfibres.co.uk/how-to-clean-a-washing-machine-environmentally-friendly-way/. It works well in my experience and must be cheaper and better for the environment than manufactured cleaner.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Boiling a ‘spent’ lemon works wonders in the kettle too Greenbee (not sure if you’re likely to have hard water up there, Ed).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I do get annoyed with Liddly veg shelf life.
Have they got £1.50 veg boxes in your Liddly?4 -
Thanks all for the DD reassurance and man! Do you guys like washing machine cleaner chat
In my experience, soda crystals don't get my washing machine clean. They burn off the foost for a week or two, but then it comes roaring back, occupational hazard of a house that is forever doing laundryI use the bright blue one in a wee plastic bottle that sounds a bit like a friendly German Ghostbuster
While it has a bit of a chemically smell, it really does do the job. Apparently one of the bigger ingredients is/are non-ionic surfactants?
I don't have any way of accurately comparing the environmental impact of using a bottle of this vs. 500g of soda crystals and 500ml of white vinegar. On the one hand, while this is definitely chemically, it doesn't have too many terrifying warnings on it, I don't think you're meant to drink itIt's a 250ml plastic bottle, which is recyclable and no longer ships in a cardboard box. The alternative, however, weighs approximately 1kg and this has to be shipped to my door. From G00gling, I understand that the production of soda crystals is quite efficient and therefore probably not awful for the environment. They do ship in a non-recyclable plastic bag. I think, however, that this is probably not the case for cheap white vinegar and that the production of this involves petrochemicals? So which is worse? 250ml/g of bright blue goop in a recyclable bottle, or 1kg of soda crystals and vinegar? These are the things that make environmentally friendly choices difficult!

You probably do this already, but after each wash I open the door to the drum and the wash powder drawer and leave them both open to let air circulate until the next wash.Seems to keep it smelling better.5

I'll second that. I also do a very hot 90deg wash about every 3 months & if I remember a 60 deg wash once a month, that has made a big difference.
