Refused contribution based JSA

My son has been working in the NHS for the past 2.5 years, the last 18 months or so on the bank. He has been told his services are no longer required. He applied for Job seekers allowance but has been told he has not paid enough NI. He has not earned £27440 in the last tax year which as far as I can determine is the threshold. He is actively looking for a new job, but what benefits can he claim in the meantime?

It would be worth him checking this page for details of how much NI he needs to have paid and when it needed to have been paid to qualify for JSA: Jobseeker's Allowance (contribution-based) - Entitledto

If he really doesn't qualify, he can apply for Universal Credit. The application is done online.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
