Student Tax Free Childcare

I’m a childminder posting on behalf of one of my families. I encouraged them to sign up to tax free childcare, as this year they have been declined student finance childcare support because of partners salary. However the partner now also can’t claim tax free childcare because the wife isn’t working as she is at uni. Has anyone else had this scenario? Is there a way around it?

They can't claim it because they don't qualify. They both need to expect to earn £1,853 over the next 3 months because the partner is a student and no, there's no way around this. Criteria here. https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare
