O/S Daily Thursday 9 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, just had a very heavy downpour but only lasted a few minutes, forecast to be cooler than the past few days and some rain.
DH and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy. DS1 still in his pit, he has some hols from work.
Dinner last night was herbed chicken, pasta in sauce and savoury veg rice. Not sure about tonight - I'll find something.
Yesterday work was busy although only half a day. Today maybe similar but at least my last working day of the week.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Cloudy this morning after yesterday's blue sky and sunshine, it's trying to rain but there's a lovely pink sky - not a good sign.
Managed to get the grass cut last night and dead headed the dahlias (not sure that's spelled correctly!), had quite a tidy up in the garden and sorted the onions ready to string tonight. I'm taking a bag of onions into work to try and get rid of some, every single one grew this year so I have a bit of a glut. I accidentally cut one of my prized squashes at the allotment so that's hardening off on the kitchen window sill.
DD, her DP and the little one will be travelling home today, DP tested positive for covid last night. I had thought DD and the little one may have had it a couple of weeks ago but the lateral flow tests showed negative. I'll be keeping my distance when they return!
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. Well it's very gloomy and quite dark out there but, as yet, no sign of the promised thunderstorms. It seems they have been postponed until this afternoon. They must be very slow working their way up the country.
Surprise visit from DD and the 2 youngest yesterday afternoon. Youngest wanted to tell me all about school, she looked like an escapee from St Trinians with her shirt unbuttoned and tier tie all skew whiff. Middle one had enjoyed her first day at Northern Ballet on Sunday, although not much dancing had been done as they were mostly introduced to all the exercises they needed to keep doing.
I have a change from my usual boring Thursday clean today. I am off shopping with DD. No idea where we are going but anything beats cleaning! I am getting picked up at 8.15 on their way to school so I'd better start getting organised.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and sad. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC. It's warm and damp here, it must have rained overnight. Thanks for the welcome back messages everyone, and the good wishes for my blooming arm, there's always something isn't there.Gers, my nephew loved Northumberland, he hadn't visited much there - we walked on the beach at Alnmouth on Sunday morning, then Amble on Sunday evening. He was impressed by the lovely beaches. On Monday we visited Chesters Fort, and he wanted to walk a bit of Hadrian's Wall, so we did that and also went to Sycamore Gap - the weather was good which helped, as you know, it can be bleak in bad weather.Glad things are progressing with your Mum's estate.Rosy, hope you enjoyed your pork pie, I love a pork pie.Sorry to hear you're not feeling so good Nan, hope you enjoy your Broads holiday though - we've done it a couple of times years ago, and had great fun.I went to the Metro yesterday, didn't get the trainers I wanted, but bought some grey cords in MnS, and a jumper, so didn't come home empty handed. When I got home DH was sweeping bits of hedge up, he's cut one half and is planning to do the other today.Well I'll stop nattering on, and wish everyone a good Thursday - take care folks.13

Morning folks.Love the description of your DGD TA, made me laugh.Yesterday was a glorious day again, maybe the last one. I mostly pottered around doing nothing of any consequence, must get out of this rut soon. My evening glass of wine attracted a wasp which I only found after almost swallowing it. 😱😱 I didn't see it buzz around or land in the glass.A pile of papers was dealt with, all scanned and then burnt in the chimera. I enjoyed sitting outside watching the fire and thinking about what to do with the garden. There's too much of one particular yellow flowering plant which self seeds freely so one patch has to go. I want more strawberries and wildflowers in that part. It's all swirling in my mind still. It's been lovely reading all the things in this thread again. 🌺
Happy Thursday to all.14 -

Morning all..No sun today and it wee'd it down last night. Food out was OK, not brilliant, but not bad. Bought a humungous bit of brisket from the farm shop to chop in half and make one half a sugo and one half a Mexican/BBQ pulled beef and most of both will go in the freezer. A couple of different friends are coming over tomorrow evening so I'm making some nibbles, there seems a lot of cheese involved, with a brie tear and share, cheese balls [made with choux pastry], gorgonzola biscuits [ won't be gorgonzola, will be the blue cheese I have left over in the fridge and has been there pre diet...] , but the last one is an experiment, because if they're nice, I'll have lots left to parcel up and put in the freezer. I have a browser window with about 20 tabs open in it ready for me...Today though, is brisket day.Yesterday I did start sanding the table but a rethink is necessary since the tops have been replaced with some ply at some point iin it's life and while sanding I've knocked some of the cross ply bits off the edges so its either put new tops on again, or cover with fabric or decoupage [ I've never really done the last one so I'd have to learn..] And now it's rained I can get on shovelling some more stuff to level at the back. Rain packs it down better than me walking all over it. And an unashamed nap at some point.Enjoy your impromptu shopping trip TA. Enjoy your time away bella. Well done on persevering Rosy! Longest craft project ever? Nanny, sorry you've been down and having buckling knees. i [and most probably we] will silently cheer from the sidelines for you. Listen closely, it will sound like a tippy tappy keyboard noise....Gers, glad things are moving along even if slowly...Florence, don't worry, you can't possibly be elderly if you are shooing them around the place
Have a good day if you can, if you can't, raise some hell, throw some brimstone around....take care though still....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Good morning everyone

It was drizzling when I let the dogs out this morning but it still feels very warm. I am so so tired as I think the last week has caught up with me. Lees appointment went well and there is no sign of him this morning so I hope he is sleeping.
My lovely sister rang me yesterday, she wants to come and see me in a couple of weeks time. She was being measured up for a cold cap for her chemo as she wants to try and keep the hair she has grown back. It's so funny, she has the same style hair now as when she was a little girl in that it is going really curly and growing out rather than down. The only difference is that it is grey now.
My mum also rang me to show me her back brace that had been fitted at the the fracture clinic. Unfortunately, her broken back hasn't healed at all in the past 6 weeks so she has to wear this brace all the time to help stabilize her spine. She has not helped herself though by still doing all the housework and carrying shopping etc. We have all told her off but she doesn't listen and now she looks like a turtle with a hard 'shell' front and back.
Phoebe has just made me a cup of tea before she goes to work so I shall have a slurp of that and work out a meal plan. I still have mince to make something amazing with as Steve asked for an Indian takeaway last night. Everyone had worked really hard shifting all my stuff into the attic so I was happy to treat them. My dining room looks so much bigger now and we actually have a table to sit at now.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx12 -

Morning all,
I will need to read back later as currently my eyesight is too blurry to read them. I took an antihistamine tablet yesterday due to insect bites, and the tablet always knocks me out.
Plans for today are to visit mum in rehab, try and speak with the OT team to discuss arrangements for a site visit before mum is released and what help will be required. Then need to work on an online grocery shop for dad and us. Hopefully, the site will be working ok later, just now you couldn’t add new items to the basket.
Got a few deliveries coming today as well. Some pleasant, such as a book, some rather dull such as bite anti itch spray but still looking forward to it arriving as my bites are annoying me.
Will try and catch up later. Take care all. x
