Have not changed my bank account ever …… I’m with Danske Bank and they are beyond useless . Can anyone recommend an account for everyday banking … I would need one with an app so I can check my spending , balance etc . Are there any branches in Belfast would suit as it’s also handy to be able to go in store ….. or even a building society

Hi, I have been with Nationwide for a couple of years and have had no problems, as yet. (They've also started giving money away each month to random customers, just in case that appeals).
They have an app which I use often - once you have registered, all you need is your passcode number to access it.
They do have a branch in Belfast.
That's the only one I can recommend as my previous bank, which shall remain nameless, was useless! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Funny enough I was thinking of there …. Need to check out a few , been with danske bank 36 years , at least 35 years too long 😂😂😂😂0

I would also recommend Nationwide - easy to use app for making payments etc - and you even get a bit of interest each month. Not many branches so that's why I kept the old Danske a/c solely for lodging cheques.1

If you hadn't specified physical branches, I would have said Starling...3

I use Halifax and would recommend it. It has a decent site and good app. Transfers are easy between accounts and to other people, and the app also has a function that allows you to lodge cheque taking a photo of it with your mobile rather than having to go instore
There are a few branches in Belfast including Castle Court

I’d also recommend nationwide. And if you switch using the current account switching service, they will give you £100/£125.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j1

I’m with Nationwide and First Direct - I’d recommend both. I don’t personally ever be in a branch but if it’s important to you I’d recommend Nationwide for your needs1

My Danske Bank closed recently, but I hadn't been in the branch since I retired. I had a Monzo account which was good. However Monzo introduced restrictions on how much cash you could withdraw from an ATM each month. I now have a Starling account, which operates similar to the Monzo, through an app. Although there are no branches, I have found the online support very good ( through the app ). In addition they will provide a second card which you can give to a friend or relative to get shopping for you. That card can be managed ( only by you ) through the app, you can only use it for purchases to a max of £200 and it uses a different pin from your own main part of the account ( you can top up to the limit, each time money is spent ). It has been very useful to me over this last year.
