Old Style Daily Saturday 04 September 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning folks. After my marathon yesterday I was extremely tired so gave in to and was in bed very early. I struggled to stay awake and ended up asleep by about 6.30p.m 😱 that makes almost 12 hours sleep. Although it was solid sleep I have memories of snippets of strange dreams, very unusual for me.Today will be very MSE, not buying anything or even going anywhere. There's no fog just lots of grey sky, I think that even the birds are still asleep.Hugs to the poorlies- happy Saturday to all.11

Morning folks and thanks GERS. You obviously needed that long sleep. I am envious as I had a night of clock watching, tossing and turning. Bah! It looks a bit damp outside but no rain is forecast just more greyness.
It was my intention to catch the first bus down into town but I am now wondering if I can be bothered! So maybe I will or maybe I won't! I also need to defrost the tall freezer and give that a good sort out as I have an Iceland delivery of mostly frozen stuff booked for tomorrow. Stuff is already shoved in anywhere and it needs getting in some sort of order. The smaller freezer keeps much tidier but I am not in and out of that as much.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning All
I woke up at 4.45, remembered I hadn't set the alarm, set it for 5.30 then when it went off I remembered it was Saturday and I didn'tneed to get up, I thought it was Tuesday!
Anyway, I've stripped the bed, that will go out in 10 minutes or so, changed gas and electric supplier and generally mooched about. Out for a loch swim at 8.30 which I think will be very cold as there's been no sunshine for a couple of days. Grey out this morning but dry so that's a bonus.
Thanks TA, talk of the freezer reminded me to get something out for dinner.
Great sleep Gers, you must have needed it.
Hope your Sister is more comfortable dumpling.
Must visit the allotment this morning, I think it's to rain tomorrow so want to get the onions home to dry, will also take out the courgette plants as I think they must have finished by now. The beans have finished at the allotment but I have some climbing beans at home that are taking over the deck fence and producing well.
Have a good weekend everyone, take care. XX9 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off, how typical you're in one place and the documents you needed were in another! x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light but cloudy, temperature got warmer yesterday as the day went out, and it's forecast to get warmer each day - we'll see. I have a wash load ready to peg out shortly.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken steaks and chips for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Not sure what we'll be eating tonight.
Yesterday I was a busy bee, got most of what I wanted done except a couple of jobs - 1 of which I'll be tackling this morning and the other I can't do anything about until Monday when I'll try again.
Elderly relative still in hospital and now hospital has been closed to visitors, so we're unable to visit - but I'm thinking that they will discharge relative to get the bed space (I do appreciate they need the beds but relative has dementia so is vulnerable and has no capacity and a gyny problem that they are supposed to be addressing). We'll have to wait and see what happens, hoping they don't all of a sudden decide to discharge over the weekend!
Keep safe and well x

WEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB9 -
Morning all,The weather is a bit dull but may clear later. We are going to an open air music event this afternoon- had the tickets since last year's event cancelled then, and again in June. DS2 will call in with the children to feed DDog at teatime, then we can stay a bit later as a friend of DH is in a band & they're on about 3 ish but another one we want to see isn't on until 8, and I wouldn't be happy leaving her all that time - she's not used to it.We will buy something to eat there so no cooking tonight. Last night I made a chicken nandos-style dish with coconut and lime rice which went down well with the menfolk. I seem to have a few gaps appearing in the chest freezer, trying to rotate my stock. I was gutted to find a vacuum packed duck and pancakes in the fridge was OOD by a week - I thought it was one of those long life onesNmlc hope your relative is comfortable and a decision made soon.I hope everyone has a decent day x

Dumpling thinking of you and your sister
Gers well done on the long sleep tbh I had a long sleep as well but got up later this morning rather than early to bed
DH on extra night shift tonight so he will go back to bed soon
I really should get myself moving weather is cloudy and ground looks like we have had unexpected rain early doors
TA you have reminded me I need to defrost my little freezer if anyone has any advice on how to do this quickly it would be gratefully received
Well it looks like DH will now be taking early retirement next year
We have been looking online at properties as we want to move needless to say DH first 2 places of choice had to be shot down as expensive place's to live
I am going to continue working and although I can do some WFH will still need to get back into London so we now seem to have reached a compromise on an area
I think it is going to be a long 8 months!!
Having read this back it has made me realise I need to get myself into gear to sort this house sorted
Maybe I need to read Marie Kondo again!
Hope everyone has a good Saturday

Morning, just, hugs if you need one.
Big freezer sort out yesterday revealed more meat than I thought |I had, so we will be living on beef, pork and eggs for te next couple of weeks.
We went to the market and bought fresh fruit and veg, I manged to spend £20, all good quality. Melon for tomorrow and Monday's breakfast. I have lamb marinading in red wine, I am going to have to cook it under foil, I have run out of roasting bags.
Good sleep for you last night Gers, I slept ok as well for a change. Have been over to see neighbour, she is getting better, more 'with it' today. and is walking to the toilet etc ok, its just getting into bed thats the problem, she needs to sleep sitting up to keep her chest clear, moving her legs across is the problem. they tried a hospital bed, but she could not see the controls to move the bed up and down etc. So she is back in her own bed.
Supper tonight is all day breakfast, I got some vine tomato's to cook with the gammon.

Csarina - does anyone have a relining chair she can use? Many of my relatives have given up on beds and stay all the time on their recliner, even at night just to help with breathing and stomach problems.3
