Win one of fifteen Dualglo Glotorches
YBW.com and Dualglo Products are offering fifteen lucky winners the chance to win an all-new floating Glotorch.
DualGlo have developed a unique and patented process whereby highly luminescent strontium aluminate is pigmented and integrated into a polymer. As a result, the polymer gives off a bright luminescence in the dark. All you need do to keep this luminescence ‘topped up’ is to expose the material to daylight or bright electric light.
DualGlo’s new GloTorch should have a place on every boat. Its inbuilt luminescence means that it is easy to find inside a dark cabin at night (when stored in a clip against a bulkhead or beside the navigation area). Its bright LED multi bulb light is robust. But it is more than a torch. A second ‘flick’ on the switch turns it from a torch to a flashing light. So it acts as a very effective emergency beacon at sea. It can either be thrown into the sea if a crewman falls over the side, to mark his approximate position. Or – better still – if the crewman has a DualGlo GloTorch in his pocket when he goes over the side, he can activate the switch and guide the boat back to him.
Double ‘O’ rings ensure that the DualGlo GloTorch is fully waterproof and the weight of the batteries in the base ensures that it floats upright with the flashing light above the surface of the water.
The retail price of the new DualGlo GloTorch is around £18 from good chandleries or it is available direct from DualGlo’s website dualglodirect.com
For your chance to win one of these fantastic torches, simply answer the question and enter your details below.
Question: What chemical compound makes the GloTorch glow?
strontium aluminate
Competition ends 6th January 2008.
