O/S Daily Wednesday 1 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light but cloudy.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/rice. Tonight will be gammon egg, potato gratin and peas or LO roast.
Yesterday as expected work was manic, today won't be much different but at other office which means different jobs, but only half day.
Keep safe and well x
nmlc x

Good morning everyone
It's dry out but still dark but that didn't put the dogs off from bouncing around the garden this morning. I waved Phoebe off to work and made myself an egg sandwich for breakfast although I am kind of regretting it now.
An old friend of mine is coming over to see me this afternoon. It has been nearly a year and a half since we last met up so we should have plenty to talk about. I've made a coffee and walnut cake and Steve is going out this morning to get some more teabags as shock, horror, we have nearly run out!
I ordered myself 2 new dresses ready for Autumn so I am hopeful they will be arriving today. They are purple and cobalt blue and are made of a jersey type fabric so I hope they will cover a multitude of sins .
I will put a chicken in to roast in a minute so I can strip it later and make soup for lunch. I also want to make creamy Tuscan chicken for dinner. It is a Pinch of Nom recipe and I have made it before.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing. Take care xx11 -
Morning all - thanks for starting us off nmlc.My journey down to Glasgow was uneventful and pleasant. Once here I dropped off bags at the CS, collected my now free of egg yolk laptop and orders from JL and Marks before arriving at Alan’s. We had a lovely evening just chatting and eating and drinking wine all in a very lazy fashion.Today we’re going down to Dumfries House for a tour, tea and cake. 😀😀
I hope that everyone is doing at least OK. Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Morning All
Have a good day Gers.
The sun is shining but it was quite chilly overnight, looks like it will be a good day.
Went to the breast screening bus yesterday to find it closed due to lack of staff, shame they didn't think to tell me. I did some shopping for school instead, we have some Afghan families join us and the children don't have coats, in fact the families don't have anything at all, they left with the clothes they stood up in. Hoping they can be helped along by our donations.
Managed a quick trip to the library with my glasses this time so hopefully it's a better selection than the last lot!
Hugs to those in need, take care. XX11 -
Hi everyone,
Just a quick one from me because I have to take Steve for his eye appointment and then will have to mooch around for a couple of hours until he's finished.
Camelot, how annoying. I must ring the doctor about my right breast, I keep getting pain where I had the lumpectomy ten years ago. I don't think it's anything sinister but might be a bit of an infection. I'll have to leave it till after we get back from Yorkshire early next week now.
I had intended to be ready to go but haven't started yet, luckily I have it down to a fine art so it shouldn't take long.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It seems to get more autumnal night and morning with each passing day and feels quite chilly. Yesterday there was quite a breeze blowing too which didn't help.
I had a pleasant meet up with my friend yesterday and, needless to say, it wasn't sitting in the beer garden weather so we were indoors. It was quite busy, and therefore noisy, and we are hoping it's quieter next week once the kids are back at school!
It should be bus trip day today but it's postponed until tomorrow as Sparkle has an appointment this afternoon. It's a follow up from 12 days ago when the vet was trying the injections for the conjunctivitis and her allergy 2 weeks apart.. Her eye hasn't cleared up properly and her allergy is still with her so I don't know what the answer is going to be. The vet is baffled and said last time it's going to be trial and error and see what works best. Meanwhile she is costing me a fortune in vet bills.
I really should get on with the jobs today that I keep putting off. I never used to be this lax. And thanks to the weather I need to do a winter/summer clothes swap around too.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and the growing list of MIA on here. SNOOZER I used to read Attic 24 regularly at one time and then sort of forgot about her. You have reminded me to have another visit .As she lives in these parts it makes interesting reading. GERS enjoy your little trip away. Take care one and all and be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Oh dear another grey day.....sheets in the washer, so they will go in the dryer.
Its coffee morning at the little chapel this morning, a chance to catch up with neighbours for a chat.
Not much going on, feeling a bit bit flat for some reason. I need to stir my stumps and empty the big containers, take cuttings and prepare them for the bulbs I have bought. That will take me a couple of mornings.
Beef casserole for supper tonight, once the breakfast pots are sorted I will prep the veg etc.8
