So usually these things mean your pts or equivalent are worth less, take it that is the case with this?

Looks like it used to be 5 points (worth 5p) per £ spent on anything, now it's basically the same as collecting stickers or stamps - 8 drinks for one free. Doubled if you bring your own cup, so 4 drinks for a free one. Whether that's better or not depends a bit on what you buy - if you usually get cakes, food or bottled drinks you could be worse off, if you just buy a £3 coffee every time you'll be much better off, especially if you bring your own cup.

The "new" rewards scheme is significantly worse that the old scheme. Under the old scheme, where you accrued "cash", you could spend it on anything in store (drinks and food) whereas the new scheme limits you to drinks only. The conversion rate from the old scheme is also very poor. You could "buy" a free drink at the usual price, whereas now it's 8 beans at 40p per bean so £3.20. If you go for a super expensive drink that might be cheaper, but regular drinks could end up being more expensive. Added to that, buried in the T's and C's is the fact that "vouchers" for a free drink (which are created when you've accrued 8 beans) expire after 6 months whereas there was nothing to stop you holding on to the balance under the old scheme for as long as you wanted. This change was to be expected after Coca-Cola bought Costa, but it's marketing hype to suggest that it's an improvement.0

Its very similar to Cafe Nero and works out much better for me, only buy coffee and use my own cup, 6 months isn't long though, its 12 months at Cafe Nero."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

The new beans still have that term as well, so you need to go to a Costa at least once a year to keep earning.0
