Spotify moving the goalposts?

Options
For years I have benefitted from effectively half price Spotify through continuing with my £4.99 per month Spotify Unlimited plan. This totally met my needs for years and was available as a cheaper alternative to Spotify Premium. Sadly, Spotify stopped offering this plan to new subscribers several years ago. However, as an existing customer, I was able to continue and was very happy doing so.
The email I received from Spotify today has hit me like a bombshell as they have informed me that they are terminating the Spotify Unlimited service and downgrading me to the free ad-based service or giving me the option of upgrading to their Premium service at twice the cost.
Obviously this is within their terms and conditions or they wouldn't have been able to do this but it still makes me feel cheated. Is anyone else in this situation similarly minded? I do not know if there is anything we can do collectively to protest against this sharp practice but I would be interested in adding my voice to any collective call to reverse this decision by Spotify and allow us to continue to enjoy the service we have been enjoying all these years without ads and without doubling our monthly bills.
