paid a lump sum off of mortgage

Hi paid a lump sum off my mortgage through Lloyds Bank to the Halifax, Lloyds bank said that the fpo will reach them within 2 hours ,kept checking online my Halifax mortgage account, it was not showing ,phoned up the Halifax they said it would , take 3 to 5 working days to show ,they checked the payment details were correct , which they were, they said dont worry, they could not even confirm payment has been made, is this normal? regards Andy

Yes.
Money goes from you to them and then it gets allocated to the mortgage account. The details should be in your original paperwork.

Yes thanks but it would be nice for the Halifax to say they have received it

When it's allocated to your account they can confirm it's received. Call centre staff don't see it until it's allocated either.

My lender doesn't confirm each overpayment, I have to wait for the annual statement.

The payment will be allocated to your mortgage on the day the cash is received. 

It just takes time -  the systems banks have are old and not instant despite what you may see as a customer.

If I overpay on our Barclays mortgage I can see it in the app later in the day.
