O/S Daily Tuesday 31 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was hot quiche, pizza, ham, scotch egg, hot new potatoes and salad. Tonight maybe either fish, or LO's from roast..
Back to work, so expecting it to be busy due to the Bank holiday yesterday - it's always manic.
Elderly relative still in hospital and some progress with a clearer plan moving forward and a procedure being performed today, this has been done before and not worked - we are all of the opinion it's likely not to again but it needs to be done to tick off, so they can move forward.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Moving again today, six locks, all in a flight so no stopping in between them. We may have to do more if there is no room at the next mooring place.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.10 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday I was so blooming productive that I impressed myself no end. 🤣🤣 I stripped the bed and got the machine going first thing. Next I tackled the window cupboard and pulled out so much now unwanted stuff. Some was only fit for the bin though my cleaner was given a lot, including the watch. A pile of nine LP's was given to the neighbour up the hill, he's a real magpie and loves vinyl records. The gardener did great work weeding and trimming the edges of the grass, only one bag filled this time though I later cut the grass and filled two more. These bags were then taken to the tip, for once the grass skip was almost empty so it was an easy job. Meanwhile the bedding had all dried in the sunshine and then put away. All good.Today I'm off to Glasgow for two nights. I've got a few chores there before staying with my friend Alan. We're going to visit Dumfries House tomorrow down in Ayrshire.Hugs to all our missing and poorlies. Happy Tuesday to everyone.12

Morning All
Sounds like you had a busy day Gers, enjoy your trip.
Glad to hear your relative is improving nmlc.
Looks like it could be a nice day, not much in the way of sunshine yesterday until about 6pm when I was at the swimming pool. Washing on the line already and I've been for a walk.
Early finish for me today at work as I have to visit the Booby Bus, pleased it's back on track with the screening. I'll call at the library on the way home, I made a poor selection of books this time and had to resort to buying for the Kindle, hoping for better luck this time!
Hugs to the missing and the poorlies, have a good Tuesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all Weather is miserable grey and rain in the air DD2 will be on her way home soon so i am off to her house with the dog and i will do some cleaning before they get home they are coming back through heathrow so after landing at 7am tomorrow i am not sure what time i will be picking them up as the news was saying there was 3 to 4 hour waits at passport control.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. HESTER good luck with the move. Tackling all those locks sounds like hard work.
Another dull day in store and, despite no rain forecast yesterday, just as I was on the verge of going out to start tackling the front wilderness it started drizzling/mizzling. Once it finally stopped I had lost the will so it awaits another day. I did, however, move some pots around at the back and cut some perennials back. Just as I was moving some old wood that the plumber seemed to have forgotten he'd put out there, a blooming big toad jumped out. Aaaargh I hate those things so the remaining wood is still out there in case it's hiding underneath!
And talking of the plumber I paid his bill yesterday online. The bank wasn't for co-operating but it went through eventually and he confirmed he had received it. It worries me transferring large amounts online but he said he would prefer it to a cheque. It nearly broke my heart forking all that money out but it was a job that had to be done. Now I must do a bit of belt tightening but that's easier said than done.
I'm meeting my oldest buddy as usual today for our Tuesday morning coffee and lunch meet up. I'm not sure it will be warm enough to sit outside again but we might be lucky if the sun decides to appear.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, recuperating and MIA. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all, hope you all had a decent BH. We seemed to be pretty busy apart from yesterday when we had a chilled day apart from calling at DS2s, when I ended up clearing the last of the BBQ detritus while he and DH sorted something out, but I did fetch a bowl of leftover Greek salad, some olives & cucumber home with me
Brightening up a bit now after a dull start.
DB1 is calling this morning to bring back some books they borrowed so a swift tidy will ensue in a bit.DH isn't doing a lot of work today, but will be going to the job to check things in a bit.TA, as a tradesman DH now prefers online to cheques as we don't have a bank nearby anymore so it means a trip to town, paying for parking and more than likely queuing . :)He asks people to just send a small amount first to check it's reached the right account .Time for another coffee now I think- have a good day all x

Morning, hugs if you need one, best of luck with those locks today Hester, well done with more clearing out Gers.
Well its a dull day, trying to rain so laundry is in the washer will go in the dryer once its finished, I have another load to do and then the bed linen tomorrow, hope I can get that dry outside.
We have a visit to the dental techie today, my new plate is hitting hard on 2 teeth, I also need to go to Tesco and get them to sort out my phone and make sure its ok. I had a strange message from Facebook yesterday asking me to change my pass word. I think I may have keyed it in wrong, I am still having fat finger problems.
Supper might be egg and chips.........I am still feeling very tired, I guess 400 miles over 2 days was too much maybe we should have stayed an extra night. and come back yesterday. Although the traffic on the M1 might have been worse.
My neighbour is still in hospital, so I am on curtain patrol again. To be honest I am doubtful she will be coming home again, she has really gone down hill especially over the lockdown.
TA we are going up to Skipton in September, I have booked a canal cruise, We will have to find somewhere to get a sandwich for lunch, and also suss out if there are disabled parking spaces at the jetty.7 -
Very chilly and overcast here today. Maggies the local cancer centre have just phoned me and are helping me reapply for attendance allowance and disabled badge. Banana bread was successfully made yesterday so I have something to offer a visitor later in the week.8

Hi everyone,
Gers, well done on the hard work, I wish I had your energy but this blooming cold has knocked me for six.
I had to take Steve to the golf club and go to Lidl so that interrupted my post. I have also been on to Sage about my food processor, it has just stopped working for no discernible reason. I must say they were very good, it is out of guarantee in October and all she said was send proof of purchase and the batch number of the machine and I will send a replacement.
I have to pack for Yorkshire but I am so full of cold now that I really have no energy, I'll take some paracetamol and see if that perks me up. Laura and Brian are flying to Barra in a couple of hours so I hope they have a smooth flight. They're back on Saturday I think so I hope the tropical storm doesn't make it's way across the Atlantic by then.
Have a good day.8 -
CSARINA I presume your canal cruise is leaving from Belmont Wharf. There is a car park with blue badge parking just over the bridge. There are a few cafes that do takeaway sandwiches in the vicinity. I have never used them so can't really recommend any. But Bizzie Lizzie's fish and chip cafe and takeaway is not far from the Wharf and they do quite a nice fish butty if that appeals.to you!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream.
