Sunday Times Where Was I? competition

The prize:

The winner and guest will stay for three nights, B&B, at the Hôtel Chais Monnet & Spa in Cognac, France. Set in five acres near the town’s medieval core, this former cognac trading house has become a chic, modern hotel with a state-of-the-art spa. There are two restaurants: the contemporary brasserie La Distillerie and Michelin-starred Les Foudres, where Marc Antoine Lepage’s menus brim with regional ingredients such as poularde from La Ferme de Tauziet, organic lamb from Charente and Marennes oysters.

On the rooftop terrace the mixologist Roxanne – formerly of La Réserve in Paris – crafts mould-breaking, moreish cocktails, many featuring cognac. The hotel’s bar stocks more than 220 brands.

The prize, which includes return economy flights from London to Bordeaux and transfers in France, must be taken before September 1, 2022, subject to availability and excluding public holidays and the period from December 20 to January 3.
