Transfer of equity and remortgage

We’re currently adding me on to my partners mortgage and borrowing extra to extend. All agreed with lender and now with solicitors.
How long does this take on average? Our solicitor says he’s waiting for our title deed but is vague so we have no idea what is going on.
We want to secure our builder but need to wait until funds are in the bank.

Hi we're in the same boat as you.

Mortgage applications take 4 weeks on average, but of course everything depends on each lender - their workloads and timeframes to complete them and also your replies to them should they request additional documents and information.

After your mortgage gets approved, it then goes to solicitors/conveyancers to complete the rest of your paperwork, add yourself to the mortgage and register your name to the Land Registry etc.
This process may take a little bit longer due to Solicitors need to witness signatures and at the moment due to the pandemic, not all of them wants to make an appointment with yourselves.
