Having seen numerous items on TV regarding women being owed money from underpaid pensions, I asked my mum if her pension had been adjusted due to her being a widow. She has no idea, and neither do I, if she is being paid correctly. I have looked through the information available but cannot find the answer we require so I'm hoping one of you may be able to advise us.
My father died at the age of 55 in 1996, obviously before state pension age, so, when my mother reached pension age, should she have received an enhanced amount to make up for payments my father would have received or should the payment have been at a higher rate as she was the sole household income?
She is now 80 years old if that has any bearing on things.
Any help or advice would be appreciated

She should be receiving a letter every year (sometime in Spring) advising her of how much her state pension will be from the new tax year and how it is made up. What does the last such letter say ?
