O/S Daily Wednesday 25 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was HM chicken and veg soup.
Elderly relative still in hospital, loads of politics going on all a bit of a nightmare and at present no-one seems to have an answer as to what the way forward should be. Only working half day so will see if there's any progress today.
Not sure what we'll be eating tonight as don't know what's happening.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for starting us off nmlc. What a glorious day it became yesterday, wall to wall sunshine and hardly any wind. I pottered in the back garden before discovering eight bags of green waste behind the wall of the front garden left by my gardener on Monday. As they were already starting to go mushy I packed them in the car and took them to the tip. The garden waste skip - a huge thing - was full up but I managed to get it all in by dint of sheer effort! One of my small jobs was to do labels for lots of electrical cords for various gadgets so I don't get muddled up, that felt satisfying. Then I packed up two big bags of unwanted books which I'll take up to the CS in Oban this morning. I've a parcel to return at the RM delivery office first thing.Happy holidays to those heading off soon. I think it's DP1 going today and maybe RedRuby too.Dumpling - hope that feeling a bit better today.Hugs to our missing and poorlies. Happy Wednesday to everyone.13

Morning everyone
Gers - it's tomorrow I go away. I need to finish packing this morning then I have a trip into town to the dentist and the bank. Then I'll have little one this afternoon - DD is leaving her with my mam while I'm at the dentist so I'll pick her up and have a little while with mam and dad too.
Eldest DD has told me that it is a lot cooler this morning so I may have to re-think the clothes I have ready to pack a little. Half of my suitcase is filled with things I'm taking over for her including several fashion text books she used at uni. So my actual packing space is limited.
I actually got biggest cat into his box without too much fuss yesterday so he has had his jab. He's not yet in for his breakfast so I'll be locking the cat flap as soon as he wanders in. He howled for a lot of yesterday afternoon as he wanted outside.
Well I'd better get on...hope everyone has a good day12 -

Hopefully the last of them, 3 in 3 weeks isn't good Right I'd better go and get ready, have a good day all. Dumpling hope you are feeling better today x

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a bit of a wind, the wm is doing its thing and I shall hang it out today. I need to wash the sofa throws and cushion covers as I let the dogs go in the pond yesterday and they ran in and got on the sofas before I could stop themnever mind they had fun and it will wash out !
Colleted my currency yesterday and like dp1 most of my covid tests have arrived i am just waiting for my pre depature one which I have to do 48 hrs before I go, its because they have advised me against vacination for now due to the tablets I am on, we have both had covid anyway so should be ok.
Bella once the announcement had been made i hope you can book something, if you do get insurance straight away with covid cover xx
Today I am going to see exacctly what clothes I need and put them all to one side to pack, my shoes and toiletries etc can all go in the case then it will just be the clothes to go in Saturday.
Will walk the puppers this morning and young pup has her scent training tonight she has got the best nose of any dog we have ever had, we can throw a pebble on the pebble beach and she will search till she finds the right one and bring it back. So dd booked her in for training just for fun really.
Dumpling I was allowed no visitors in hospital as well, its very hard but i slept a lot and had my tablet so i could watch films etc, hope there is improvement soon and you can come home xxx
I am very late to the party here but I have started watching Downton I love it, if anyone has not seen it I would reccomend watching it.
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning all. Another dull morning here but yesterday it brightened up and was lovely.
Very little got done yesterday as we had DGS so today I need to strip the bed and do some food shopping. DH is off to the dentist so he'll pick up a couple of bits in town. I think we'll have a sausage casserole done in the slow cooker tonight as it feels a bit like Autumn has come early.
Have a good day everyone.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Grey morning, its trying to rain and rather chilly, I thought we were supposed to have wall to wall sun this week.
Another visit to the dental techie yesterday, he adjusted DB's bottom plate and fitted my new bridge, so we are poorer but have nice smiles!!
Washing almost dried on the line, I had to just shove a couple of vests in the dryer to finish them off.
Message from SS, he has taken AG and C up to see his birth mother in Dundee, DB is very cross, covid is worse there than it is here, he will not be popular. Will have to make sure he has taken a test when he gets home.
My new phone came yesterday, still have a bit of a problem with messages, but will sort it out. I am going to take it in to the big Tesco and get them to transfer stuff and set it up for me. I cancel my old phone next week, so will need the pac code. I want to take over the old number.
No real plans for today, not sure if DB will be out in the garden or not depends if it does rain. I want to get the last blocks sewn for the quilt, and may be get the sashing strips cut. Have decided to keep it at 3 across and 4 down.
Supper tonight sausage and mash, possibly with beans, creme caramelle for dessert.

Morning all from mehefinland
Thank you all for your kind words about Lagan, I do appreciate it, and although so many of us are losing loved ones, suffering from illness and worry it is a small comfort that people can take the time out to sympathise and empathise. We laughingly said that if she had been a cat she would have been on her 10th life. Slowly coming to terms with the changed dynamics in the set up, although both Scooby and Fairy are looking a bit lost. Was doing ok until we got a condolence card yesterday from the vets!! Mrs M a bit upset but I know they meant it with the best intentions.
Farrier again this morning so must fly. Hugs and spoons as always

Hi can I join in?
Cleaned the very greasy!! Filter from the extractor in the kitchen today, among loads of other cleaning jobs. DH wanted to buy a special bag filled with cleaning product to degrease it but I just dumped it in the bath with plenty of vinegar and bicarb and after several scrubs and rinses it is as good as new!8
