O/S Daily Monday 23 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, fish for tonight.
Back to work today, manic no doubt.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.I’m about to drive down to Glasgow. I managed to spill cooked egg yolk on my laptop the other day 😬 so I want it looked at. It works although a couple of keys are sticky and it’s beginning to make an unhappy noise. It’ll need to be left at the shop.Yesterday I packed up some books ready for today. Then I briefly visited a neighbour to hand over some unwanted things, she persuaded me to sit in the garden for a wee while, that was especially effective as she produced a small glass of wine. 😍 The visit was really enjoyable.I hope that TA got off without a hitch.Thoughts to all our poorlies.Happy Monday to all. Morning all up early as need to walk the dogs before DH goes to work so that done and the countdown has begun for her returning home she is a lovely dog but too much for me and poor old Dolly she won't leave her alone . We had friends round on Saturday night to try to work out where to go in September we have picked 3 but i can't see it happening as the ones we chose look to be going amber and there will be another review whilst we are away so we are going to wait for this weeks announcement see where is green pick a hotel from that list and make a choice all very frustrating especially as DD2 told me Heathrow was packed with Indian flights I really can't believe they are amber still enough moaning from me .
TA I hope you and sparkle are having a good time at the van
Hugs to all who are unwell or looking after a poorly
Hope all those who are MIA are doing ok
Have a good day stay safe xSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning everyone
Managed to get up a bit earlier this morning as I have stuff to do and need to get it all done before lunch as I'm down with dad this afternoon as my mam has an appointment to have her ears syringed. Hopefully it will help and she'll stop shouting at everyone!
Eldest DD stressed me last night by telling me that I need a paper copy to show I've been vaccinated to be allowed in restaurants, etc in Germany - I thought I just needed it on my phone. I've printed it now so should be ok.
I'm stressing in general because I'm going away...I don't like leaving mam and dad though both youngest DD and my niece live close by. My eldest brother decided to go to his house in Lanzarote at the same time as I'm away - he has no concerns about leaving them!
So I'm going to move myself - hope everyone has a good day.14 -
Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here, yesterday turned out to be a lovely 25 deg we walked the pups all along the beach for miles and then stopped at a pub and OH had a pint I took my own sugar free drink and we sat on the beach with drinks and watched the world go by it was very pleasant.
Onto today I need to start putting a few things in the cases, and check what needs washing and start doing that, it is actually all clean but the summer things may need a freshen up wash so I will start that.
Will get the pups out for a walk over the fields and have a tidy round, dw needs emptying and run the hoover over.
Thinking of our dear Nels hope your hands are not too bad xxx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning, looks to be a nice day ahead. My old neighbour is meant to be picking me up and we're going into town as she wants to go to her building society and then go for a coffee but I might suggest I meet her there. She can't walk very far & DH has asked me to get a new battery & strap fitted on his watch. The only place left that would do it is on the other side of town, too far for her. I'll see if she has her mobile switched on in a bit
, not always the case.
DH made the tea last night! DS1 was out for the day at a car show so we had Gambas pil pil with toasted sourdough, followed by sticky toffee pud (DH didn't make that though)
DS2 called briefly on his way to drop DGS at his mums so DGs could take the new toy home with him, he was very pleased with it although he said he would have preferred a green one, unfortunately for him they only had yellow, and not many of those left either!
Cottage pie for tea. It's meant to be quite nice and warm this week so you never know, I may get to use the bbq stuff in the freezer at some point!Bye for now and have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all; dull and cool here so far.
Felt very pleased with myself yesterday as I managed to get the starling out of the log burner and then out of the window without any mishaps. It flew straight into the bay window so I was able to pull the curtains behind it and then opened both windows for it to fly out. DH grumbled at me, as he had wanted to let it fly into a bag and then take it into the garden but he wasn't rushing to do anything about it.
Today I need to make fairy cakes for DGS's visit tomorrow and then he takes some home for lunch the next day. DH is making a shepherd's pie, so we will have half today and half tomorrow. I also have a Zoom music session at lunchtime. It would normally be Whitby Folk Week at the moment and they have a very good online programme. Yesterday I did Carols in August, which was an excellent session on the Yorkshire/Peak District Carols, which are still sung around the local pubs and are extremely popular. Lots of photos and recordings and a bit of history thrown in, along with the singing.
Look after yourselves and have a good day everyone.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. I fell asleep again sitting up after my nasty pill this morning, so we are like the cows tail....all behind. Cleaner is due shortly.
Laundry is in, forecast is no rain so will put it out on the line. We had a very heavy shower yesterday afternoon, pelted it down for about 20 minutes, then stopped.
DB at evergreens this afternoon, so I will take my ring in to get the stone replaced, will get them to check the claws on the other stones and clean it as well.
Not sure about supper, will save the chicken thats left over till tomorrow, might just do egg and chips.9 -
Hi everyone,
We were late up this morning and now waiting for a call from Laura to say they are ready to be picked up from the festival. I hope it's not too busy getting off the site.
Apart from that and walking Ziggy we have no plans for today. The new hall stand arrived so we have to put that up at some point.
Sorry for the boring post, I hope you're having a good time TA and that all the poorlies are as well as can be expected.11 -
Back in hospital with sepsis again. Just waiting to be moved to a different ward. Feeling thoroughly fed up.8
