Hi everyone
I've had to work from home due to covid and wanted to claim back expenses. When i apply to do this on gov.uk do I select the flat rate or other. Bit confused with it all really.
Thanks
Alastair

You do realise only your employer can pay you expenses? If you are unable to get them to agree to pay you then you can only claim tax relief from HMRC, they don't pay the expenses your employer won't pay.
So instead of getting £6/week from your employer you will get anywhere from £0 to, in extreme circumstances, £3.69/week in tax relief. Most people are able to get a refund with £0, £1.20 or £2.40/week so getting your employer to pay is with much more.
Flat rate expenses are usually for uniform laundry or amounts agreed with Trade Unions for specific industries., not WFH claims.
Did you start here and are you you answered the questions correctly?
