Both DH and I used the NHS as well; I had tablets and DH had patches. We've both been smoke free for just over 9 years now. Definitely worth giving it a try. It's even possible to do it through the pharmacy at our local Tesco.

Can also recommend the NHS, my dad used it to help give up and am fairly sure it was free.
