O/S Daily Thursday 19 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy, dry underfoot, showers forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms and beans. Tonight will be a "use up" type of meal - fridge has lots of bits and bobs in it.
Work yesterday was ok, quite peaceful working at the other office and was only half a day. Back to my normal office today and it will be busier as it's a busier office.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Once again yesterday was damp and dank until late afternoon when the sun managed to crack through the clouds. The washing load I hung out dried well in the hefty breeze even though it was cold.I thought about the books a lot - not sure that that counts! Other stuff got my attention more as I pottered around the place. The day was mostly unproductive but pleasing in the main. Having so much 'freedom' is a very strange feeling which is not yet normal, it'll come I suppose. After spending so long looking after my DM it's now time to look after myself, lose the excess weight, sort out my still wobbly leg etc. I need a new focus and can't keep putting off finding it.For now I'll browse a bit more before moving from my bed. Happy Thursday to all. ❤️15

Morning All
Dry again, I had to water the pots and baskets yesterday, I think it's to rain tomorrow.
Doing nothing is looking after yourself Gers, you need time to heal.
Happy holidays Ruby!
Great that you're going out a bit more dumpling.
Really busy at work yesterday, not sure where the day went. The depute decided at 3.30 that the sun was shining so we should all go home so we did! It wasn't warm enough to sit out but I pottered about in the garden until it got quite chilly. Forgot to go to the allotment so will visit tonight.
Have a good day, take care. XX14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A dismal start for us here after overnight rain but a dry sunless day is forecast. And looking out at the sumac the wind seems to have dropped a fraction at last.
Pleasant bus ride day yesterday. We went to Ilkley and got the next bus onwards to Otley. It's the first time we've been back since the pandemic kicked off but nothing seemed to have changed. There were various attractions for the kids in the market square which looked very popular.judging by the queues for them. We had a browse of the cs and the Everything is 20p shop. I got quite an assortment of cards and gift bags in the latter. I like a bargain and a good rummage! Lunch was almost a bit of a disappointment as there was a reduced menu due to a technical fault in the kitchen. We ended up with lasagne, salad and a jacket spud which was a bit of a weird assortment but, nevertheless, every last bit was eaten! And the wine was enjoyed too.
We got back into Ilkley just as our bus was leaving so, to kill time, we had a wander round M & S food and managed to pick up a few end of day bargains reduced to half price. They will go with me to the van next week.
So today is earmarked for the regular Thursday kitchen and bathroom clean to ease the burden for tomorrow's Friday Tidy. Then this afternoon I have quite a big Tesco delivery due. I wonder what will be oos or subbed! I have cleaned the fridge out in readiness but defrosting the big freezer was a step too far sadly!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. GERS it will take a while to get used to your new freedom. Just do what jobs you feel like doing, the rest will wait. Take care one and all and be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
up up and dressed as I Have an annual boiler service booked “anytime between8 am and 5pm. Hate that feeling of hanging around. Youngest son is coming today to do the work on the greenhouse etc. He couldn’t come earlier in the week as unexpectedly called into work.
going to make prawn fried rice later. Good thing about living in the sticks is there are no takeaways to tempt me so if you fancy it you have to cook it!Gers you will find a new focus but for the moment just go gently.15 -

Morning everyone
Dull here this morning - it's meant to be raining, so will see what happens.
I'm going into town early as I have an appointment to have bloods taken. I need a few bits at Home Bargains and to get some Euros. DD says a lot of smaller cafes and shops in Nuremberg don't accept cards. Might have time for a quick look in our two charity shops before the bus home....depends how long the bloods take....my veins are usually quite uncooperative! Then my brother is coming down to mam and dads for the day so will go there for lunch. And will have little one later on this afternoon while DD is at work. Don't know how I'm going to get my book finished at this rate!
Yesterday got out lovely and hot but so so windy! Played outside with little one for a bit in the afternoon - she kept hiding herself under a rug!
Gers - carry on your pottering about - you deserve some time to yourself
Hope everyone has a good day13 -
Hi everyone,
I managed to tidy the dumping ground in the spare room yesterday - need to go to the charity shop today with several bags. Actually it wasn't as bad as expected, the charity shop bags have been in there for several months from when the shops were shut so it was just a case of hoicking the out. Other than that it was a case of putting away fabric and wadding that I'd been too lazy to put in their proper places. I couldn't find a double fitted sheet and I know I have some so I don't know where I've put them (I found 4 spare king size). In the end I went out and bought one and indulged in a new duvet cover and pillow cases for the bed.
I also ordered a shelf/drawer/mirror combo for the hall. We've never been able to have anything there because it's not a wide hall but this unit is only 6 inches wide so I think it will be ok. The company offered a 10% discount on first orders if you signed up for their newsletter which I duly did but then wasn't sent a code or anything so I must ring them today because the discount is definitely worth having.
I hope you all have a good day, especially the poorlies. I hope you plans come off today Poppy.10 -
Morning all; dull and grey here so far.
Had a great evening yesterday playing for Morris dancing at the pub and then the other musician and I sat on the wall and played some more tunes. Finally dragged myself away as it was an hour's drive home but luckily no problems on the motorway. I now have three more music sessions in the next 2 days - 2 live and one on Zoom - lucky me!
Taken some lamb steaks out of the freezer to have later with some veg and potato wedges. We're still finishing the courgette my friend gave me and then I've found another one in the veggie rack
Some dusting could be done here but if the weather stays dry I might be out for a walk and leave the housework for another day. I'm also currently trying to read the last of the Wolf Hall series but it's such a thick heavy book I get fed up with holding it. Plus I have to keep reminding myself who the characters are as it's so long since I read the previous ones. I need to persevere though as it's a library book and I've already renewed it once so time will be limited.
Have a good Thursday everyone.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers, take your time, you were looking after your Mum for so long, it will take a while to adjust and you will find a new focus. Pottering is just what is needed for the time being.
Dull morning here, time for an Aldi shop. DB will go with me 'for the ride' we may stop for coffee on the way.
No idea whats for supper, might do mac and cheese with some salad, we have not had salad this week.9
