Early termination charges (ETC)

Options
Hi all,
currently, I find myself moving home (rented) within a two year period due to circumstances beyond my control ie.landlords selling property to keep cash flow for other items.
Due to these moves I’ve encountered two different rounds of ETC* for both phone line (BT) and electricity provider.
I feel it is extremely unfair that those who rent (only last two years) encounter and are hit with these charges.
I was unfortunately, unable to bring my phone line with BT and electricity provider with me due to contractual agreements with the letting agency. This means I am now out of pocket again with these charges, some over £100. Surely, there is legislation are there should be legislation to prevent these charges being applied due to an individual circumstances. What is also on fair is the contract length. When I moved for the first time The contract for BT was 2 years. I moved the grand total of one floor (up) to a vacant property above but BT stated they need to close one account - ETC applied and new contract for another 2 years. This is totally unfair and due to the property I’m unable to source another telephone provider - agreement with management company.
martin can you look into this type of unfair contract system please

Martin sold this site many years ago .

As said ETC  is for breaking a valid contract .
Going to be very difficult across all areas of contracts to individually examine each persons contracts .

due to the property I’m unable to source another telephone provider - agreement with management company.

Which is even more unfair and likely unenforceable.  What does your contract state about those services ?  If you are connected to the public networks there will be little the management company can do to prevent you from changing.  The main reason you will be tied in is because the management co are getting a kickback from the provider.
