New Salary

Just been offered a new job with an increased salary but when I initially spoke to them overstating my current salary by £3k forgetting that I lost a bonus/overtime due to the pandemic.

The salary that they are offering is at the bottom of their salary scale for this role anyway so it’s within their range for the role.

Should I be worried about the offer being retracted?

I really don't think so.  Your normal salary is your normal salary, not your pandemic salary.

If they query it you can explain that your income temporarily dropped due to covid but that the figure you gave was your normal income.

If a salary figure was requested I would always include any overtime and bonus in the highest paying year with the current employer.

Is this an internal move or to another company?

If its internal then HR should be involved and will be advising your current reward package

If its external then they almost certainly will never know... some reference request forms do ask for salary but never seen anyone ever complete it when returning... certainly I never have when I've been leveraged as a colleague reference

However, what I have experienced is someone inspecting the P45 I handed over from my previous employer and querying the year to date figure not being consistent with the annual figure I had given.  Knowing the organisation and the person querying it, if I had not provided a P45 I believe there would have been more questions.

They'll see your P45 so I don't think it is correct that they will never know. Of course, the set up of the employer will mean that the person who interviewed you may not see that information, but you aren't going to know who might.
