We've just had work done on a large tree at the bottom of the garden which had branches hanging on the roof of a neighbour's garden shed.

The tree surgeon applied for permission which made life easy as they do it regularly. It took longer than usual to get the go ahead (staff shortages at the council due to Covid) but all sorted now.

It's a bit unclear who's responsible for your tree as the grounds of your estate seem to be managed by a company rather than individual owners. Maybe you should approach them for advice.

I'd certainly buy a car cover though.

Be grateful there is a healthy bird population in a built up area and buy a car cover?
That really is a Mr Brightside perspective. Birds are obviously a key part of the natural world, but if I was in the OP's position I would not be happy. If I need to park on a street I deliberately choose a spot away from trees.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.
