I was hoping that Japan might do well at the back of the Olympics and it looked good when I added them. But I have been thinking to remove/reduce the size of the fund and replace with something else.
I didnt add UK due to Brexit, but might be a good idea to search for a fund that represents that part.
The funds selection are somewhat restricted, I can select from 150 funds.

Im happy to ride out any storms, it will still be there once I hit 55 or later if required.
With all due respect, these are poor reasons for investment. They are short term and in the case of the Olympics are completely irrelevant. Brexit boosted many UK companies that earn most of their revenue abroad with the weakening of GBP, and for those that it did not - there's now a compelling investment case as both GBP and UK equity assets could be considered somewhat undervalued.

I do not wish to sound rude but I don't think you are at a point of understanding yet to warrant holding anything but a global index tracker which will do the diversification for you. It will be easier for you (no need to play about with asset allocations), make you less prone to making bad choices (no "Oh !!!!!! my Japan fund is down 10% panic sell!) and may be cheaper in terms of fees too.

As a 33 year old, your primary concern shouldn't be asset allocation, it should be getting as much money into your portfolios as possible in the most tax efficient way as possible, to benefit from long term compound gains. £1k a month is good - can it be higher?
  • Thank you everyone for your helpful comments, it gives me a lot to think about. I would like to stick my work pension into a global index tracker. I do struggle a little finding a fund that ticks most boxes and coverts most markets with low fund fees.
How does the following fund sound:
Liontrust Sustainable Future Global Growth for the majority of the Pension
Aviva Pensions Schroder Global Emerging Markets with a small allocation.

1k a month is currently what I'm comfortable with, besides saving for some other things :-).
