Any other US citizen / UK residents here?

My first post!
I’ve gone down an absolute rabbit hole trying to figure out how to create an account on SSA.gov without a US driver’s license or a US mobile number. By any chance has anyone figured this out?

I would check on a more expat focused forum like "uk-yankee.com". But to set up an SSA account you'll need a US mailing address and a SSN. If you don't have those you'll just have to deal with SSA the old fashioned way.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”1

To your question ... most branches of the US bureaucracy operate on the belief that the US is the entire world.

Ha - but they just don’t know what to do with those of us who have decided to settle out there in the rest of the world.EdSwippet said

Hi, I am a us uk dual national with all of the tax joy that comes with it. I have resorted in the last few years to specialised ifa management. There are many Fb groups on the usa investment and ss issues.0

Thanks - hadn’t even thought to look for a FB group for some reason.Yankee24 said:Hi, I am a us uk dual national with all of the tax joy that comes with it. I have resorted in the last few years to specialised ifa management. There are many Fb groups on the usa investment and ss issues.0 -
As well as FB, maybe look at UK Yankee, if you haven't already. In particular, the US - UK Taxes forum board. There will probably be people there who have first-hand experience of the same problems that you're encountering.
I should also probably nuance my previous statement. The IRS is the opposite; it operates on the belief that the entire world is the US. :-(0 -
I thought they had decided on taxation without representation.ExpatForLife said:

True. A US expat isn't a case of taxation without representation.bostonerimus said:

US taxation without representation does exist though, even if the US likes to sloganeer that it does not. For example, US immigrants and green card holders who are not US citizens pay full US tax on their worldwide income, but get no vote. (On the plus side, they get a free pass when it comes to jury service.)0
