Has it ended now?

I've been paying child maintenance for the last 19 years.. never seen my child since.. regular snooping via social media leads me to the fact the child is now 20 years old and was in further education. I'm lead to understand that child benefit now stops for the child as they have reached age 20.. therefore meaning child maintenance also automatically stops. Do I call CMS to ensure this is the case? As I feel they have hounded me for the past 19 years! All/any advice is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Child benefit ends once the young person reaches their 20th birthday, which is also when child maintenance ends. I'm surprised if you're paying through CMS that it didn't automatically stop once your child reached 20.

Thanks Poppy. She turned 20 on Saturday, but wasn't sure if it was ended on that actual day, or the 31st August?

Thinking about it further, it actually ends the day before their 20th birthday because it can't be paid when they reach 20.
