Nhs nurse pension scheme..
I've been reading the latest consultation in response to above judgement. To be frank I don't understand it, the language used completely baffles me.
Does anyone know are there plans or any suggestion the changes may lead to the lump sum on retirement being taxed.
Also special class status is that lost with one continuous 5 year break or cumulative
Thank you

There is no suggestion that the lump sum will be taxed, can't help with your other query, sorry"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "2

However, if you have been put into the 2015 scheme from the 1995 one, what McCloud does (if you qualify) is to put you back into the old scheme up until April 2022. That would entail special class status pertaining to more years of pension membership than otherwise.
PS, are you male or female? If the former, the fact special class status was only equalised with Barber still stands, i.e as a male you would remain legally discriminated against for pre-17/5/90 service.1 -
Thank you for replies, much appreciated.
Awh that's interesting, so am I correct to assume that there's no current plans to look at changing current tax free pension lump sums?
The reason I ask is because I'd heard in another area some staff had an impression of future changes (rightly / wrongly).
Thank you0 -

Probably a typo hyubh but I believe it's April next year, 2022

There's sufficient capping of pension pots already not to require any further interference. With inflation doing the polticians dirty work surreptitiously.0
