O/S Daily Friday 13 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy, dry underfoot and no rain forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner was egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms and beans - enjoyed very much. Tonight something quick and easy.
Now on days' off so have some jobs to do. Food shopping first thing.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I desperately need to do some housework today, everywhere is in need of a scrub, we emptied the black water tank y'day and filled the water tank. I need to make a shopping list as we will be near shops soon.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.9 -
Morning everyone.Yesterday's weather was the opposite of Wednesday's - bright sunny morning followed by atrocious rain and wind all afternoon. I did all I needed to do in Oban, going up early meant I found parking easily outside both the CS and the bank. Now my car is almost empty of stuff from Glasgow...just need to sort out my home now.My solicitor emailed me to say that HMRC have issued the necessary code to allow Confirmation (probate) of DM's estate to take place, he reckons that'll only take about two weeks. Once that's done the flat sale should whizz through 🤞 🤞🤞
Because of the rain yesterday I didn't go into town so need to do that this morning to collect the three framed prints. Then I'll do a mini-series of decluttering upstairs, the spare room is still like a storage unit for a jumble sale.I hope the birthday celebrations went well yesterday TA.
Enjoy your in-service day Camelot.Am thinking about Poppy and Marie especially. Nelski - hope your hands are feeling better.Oh Dp1, what a nightmare for you - funny but a nightmare. 😀
Thoughts to all our poorlies. Happy Friday to all.10 -
Morning All
Blustery and wet this morning, just the day to go back to work! Washing is just about to finish but that can stay inside today. Summer seems to be well and truly over here.
Feel better for a haircut, it wasn't too bad having the hairdresser here and saved travelling. Lunch out in Glasgow was good, the others had wine with their meals but as I'm a hopeless drinker I took the car but got caught in rush hour traffic on the way home, seemed to take ages.
I spoke to DS1 yesterday, he has spoken to the children and will get them overnight tonight so the storm seems to be passing for now. It obviously suits their Mum for him to have them this time.
Glad you're beginning to feel better Florence.
Hope your appointment went well Poppy.
Missing you Nelski, hope those hands are behaving.
Right, my day must begin! Take care. XX10 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a fine ish start to the day, hope it stays like this, I have washing to do.Yesterday we had the dgc's for the day, we'd seen them for a couple of hours on Wednesday as well,so it's been busy.I've got a few jobs to do today, and some friends coming tonight, so had better tidy up a bit.DH's brother rang on Wednesday evening, to say one of his dil's had died that afternoon, she was only fiftyish but had been ill for a while. They live nearly 300 miles away, and we are going on holiday on Monday, we have sites booked, so I don't suppose we'll get to the funeral.Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts to our poorly people.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sky is a mix of all colours this morning, I am hoping the blue will win. Yesterday was as forecast, sunny intervals. But they didn't say there would be a nippy wind blowing so that put paid to sitting out reading but it did dry the washing quickly!
Friday Tidy day so that involves a dust and vac up and down and allaround! I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen yesterday and christened my new steamer at last - after I had spent forever fathoming out how to get the cap off the water tank! Not a good start but my fault for not reading the instructions!
ROSY I hope yesterday wasn't too distressing. It's always sad when the funeral is that of a young person. RUBY your employers have been so good by the way they have treat you since your diagnosis it's a shame they are now letting you down. I hope they can offer a less taxing sort of employment for you now you are ready to go back. POPPY my thoughts were with you yesterday, and I hope the hospital visit went as well as it could.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and the MIA. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Got to scan appointment on time to be told there was an hour and a half delay! Volunteer offered me a free cup of tea and a sandwich which was really kind. Scan very unpleasant as I was in the scanner for an hour and told not to move. However as soon as I got home the hospital rang to say no evidence of spine compression and no cancer seen in the bones. There is evidence that one of the vertebra has collapsed hence the pain. I was so relieved and admit I had a large drink to celebrate and and an early night as I was shattered. The consultant will ring me early next week. Thank you for all your lovely messages, I really appreciate the support.11

Brilliant news POPPY you more than deserved your big drink. In fact I think it deserves another tonight! Xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Good news Poppy, hope you enjoyed your drink!! Gers, pleased to hear that you are almost at the end of the road with your Mothers affairs.
Sun just coming through, had an early wake up call, some postcrete we ordered yesterday arriving.
Fitted up the new hose last night, it will reach round for us to water the front garden, expensive but well worth it.
Quiet day yesterday after the two hectic days earlier in the week.
Supper tonight will be the usual fish and chips, followed by the last of the raspberry jelly.8 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here but the sun is due out this afternoon. I have the day off from dog walking todayDD is going away for a few days and taking her pup with her and OH has taken our pup to his dads for the day so a day off for me !
I am taking my sister to have her hand checked later and will pick up my shoppig afterwards, I also need to nip into another shop for some crisps as MR A crisps are not nice.
Before we go to the hosp we are going to try and book flights and an airbnb for a last min break to Greece, we have found cheap flights and a couple of places so just need to narrow it down and book something, all the way through my treatments and Op's I kept thinking of being in Greece on the quad bikes and stopping at a beach taverna for lunch and a drink, its the only thing that got me through sometimes so this break is very much needed.
Ive got some pork belly out for dinner I will slow cook it and make a sticky sauce to go on it and have it with rice and peas.
TA it does seem a bit unfair of my work for them to be doing this, they have been so good all through my treatment but now this ! doesnt really make sense, I will wait and see if they come up with an alternative.
Have good days all xx10
