Suspicous job emails

Can anyone confirm that this is a phishing email or could it be genuine?
Three of part of emails received today plus when tweeting a message to a Sodexo Twitter they confirmed it's genuine.

1.You are receiving this email because a recruiter has added your details to our Sodexo Careers Centre.
Can this be done without first asking your permission first?

2.Further to your telephone call today, I'm pleased to let you know that we'd like to offer you the casual position of Multiskilled Operative - Mobile Test Unit with Sodexo, supporting HM Government in the fight against COVID-19.
I've not called them at all or applied for this position through them.
I have applied internally through my employers for a similar position. Not once have I given consent to pass them onto an outside agency.

3.
We are delighted that you have accepted our offer!
 I haven't

In order for us to set you up on our systems, please review and complete your Sodexo onboarding documents. UK - 0800 1116 387] www.my-eap.com

I'm not clicking the link or phoning but are recruitment agencies doing things this way now?

  • If Sodexo twitter has confirmed it, I suppose is genuine. However, this is not good practice at all.

But then what if it's a fake twitter account?
I've not applied for the job though,

The jobs are genuine and so is the website I wonder if someone's filled in an application on my behalf I have my suspicions.
    1. They used an email address I wouldn't use for jobsites. But they know it.
    2. There are mistakes on my profile and I would not have put them in. And they have very little personal information included.

You could contact them via their online query page - link here -

    https://uk.sodexo.com/contact-us/general-enquiry-contact-form.html

in order to try to find out how they got your details and who 'the recruiter' is. Obviously not giving them any personal details that they don't already have. Have you asked your employer if they have contacted the company on your behalf and without your knowledge?

It's really very strange and I'd be a tad concerned because there does seem to have been some kind of data breach.

OR you could just delete the emails and block the sender.

Your instincts are telling you that this is not genuine and I think you're right. Especially as you never even submitted any application or made any call. It could be that someone has gone to a lot of trouble just to play a joke on you - stranger things do happen. But why?

Why? Twitter accounts aren't always genuine. Spammers are all over social media.

  • I googled Sodexo and looked at their careers page and the vacancies do exist. The website visited is genuine, what will be interesting is if anything else gets ''filled in'' as I've changed the password.
I checked the profile that's filled in its only got a few small details one is incorrect and if the site uses auto postcode fillers wouldn't have been possible I'm not in England.

What has been filled in and what I cannot see is the ''Right to work in UK'' section.and I had an email to say thanks on filling it in.
With only a tiny amount entered on the job history part
Sodexo's twitter messenger confirmed that both names on the emails work for them.

Do they use quick online application processes to fill urgently needed vacancies. Where you can do so much just by being logged in with an account? To further the application the rest of the form needs to be completed. Obviously I will not do this as one will be a bank account if they want an immediate start.

What does concern me if the job is genuine is what little experience and skill is needed to be accepted, considering  what the job is.

It looks like a prank or something more serious and the application has been filled in on my behalf.
I've got my suspicions on who as they haven't got some personal information that I've withheld from them that you would use in an application. But they will have access to other personal information that would be needed to submit the application.

As I said above, if that's all you need to get a job with Sodexo I'd be very worried on the standard of employees.

Not wishing to be unkind, but you asked on another thread if your manager could cancel a course you had already been booked on after you handed in your notice.  That sort of sounds to me like you may have a bit of difficulty identifying what may or may not be good practice?
  • Update;, Apparently G4S passed on details to Sodexo and filled in an application on my behalf and Sodexo offered me a job without a properly filled in  application form.
Not only have I not applied for this specific role at G4S I cannot remember when I applied to work for them its well over four years.
The profile on my dashboard filled in for me consists of nothing more than name, address,(wrong country) and one job in work history. Nothing on dates, skills, reasons for wanting to work there etc. And it was offered.
Worryingly its a multi-skilled operative at a vaccine centre. I just wish jobs I wanted were that easy to get
