@debtfreewannabe321 glad I am not the only weirdo who loves the use it up toiletry game
Also know as the ‘shop from home’ - a phrase from MSe I often see on the grocery challenge
- great you found new products - I also am using a product the psa serum (in a gifted box) and it’s really good mixed in otter serums - never had bothered trying it before -
Managed to get back on the Python home study yesterday and will do more today
feeling a little stressed not hearing back on this money so plan to prepare myself for battle on the job front by upping my skill levels
Heard re more side hustle stuff for next summer but need to outlay first so will decide on that this week as deadlines …DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

on flat - some of the neighbours being knocked back on affordability despite never being late on rent and fulfilling minimum income requirements so it’s all a bit of a concern
though with me it’s more what they will hike my apartment up to as I have a 2 bed ..
the main contract still not paid so I am on a daily call about it - need some cash in to assuage these rent people
have decided to say no to the one side hustle trip - in April in a cool place but a lot of energy and mental space and cash to put upfront first and I think I need to focus on the job hunting and house buying first
I will say yes to the summer side hustle trips though .F day ! I am thinking tomorrow is the defrost freezer day . Finally getting to the dregs of itDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Thank you so much lwap for explaining the crypto currency. I am really interested, but like many a bit to scared to give it a go.
But i love that you are giving it a go and leaning about it.
That silly arrogant man could have learnt alot from you if he had the sense to stop forcing his views and actually listened. His loss!
Are there any yt videos that you would recommend to help learn more.
I have been intrigued since one of DH colleague 'retired' early after making a million on bitcoin. He now lives off the interest 3000 a month!!Wow - they are lucky! An unfortunate friend of my ex H, did the wrong thing and borrowed serious cash 10k or something and invested a good chunk in a crypto product. Hello @LadyWithAPlan,You have quite a bit going on! Good luck with the job hunt & hope everything goes smoothly with new management company. For what its worth, we decided to buy after our landlord started putting the rent up beyond our means instead of looking for a new rental. We just thought it was a waste of money and very unpredictable if the new landlord would sell up after a yr. Glad we did buy!Might take a look at crypto and like you say, stay small and grow it slowly. My ex H knows a bit about it and he has been investing for years. Keep warm!2025 financial goals & challenges!

Baby Crypto watch - still flying up! Now £216.87 so a further £14 in 3 days ... so increase of 7.36% in 3 days .... err... I had planned to put more in earlier in the year but was waiting for back pay .. still I am staying slow and steady .. and of course there is CGT on crypto... I have a flat to buy so I can wait to become a crypto whale...Queen_of_the_Hive said:Hello @LadyWithAPlan,You have quite a bit going on! So further shocks to the system and why many of my neighbours are failing the affordability checks - proposed new rents are increased hugely - in some cases by 64%!! Apparently they are only taking peoples monthly set paid amounts and freelance income is being ignored, even if people have been theor for years and always paid the rent on time ...i am a contractor so...... So even though financially I could take a big hike in rent and earn more than enough I could still yet fail affordability .. oh the joy..I won’t have my figures etc and interview with the new agents till next month but looks like from my comparable neighbours it will be an additional £550 pm for me !! Having had a £500 increase pm last year I am not impressed and to do this to people 2 weeks before Xmas who are having to move out... seriously its awful - a frined of mine is desperately unhappy and may have to move back home 200 miles north...
The maths of renting is no longer mathing at such rents… even with my interest income on my deposit - it has been good but now time to move..
Either way I may have to bite the bullet in the short term on the cost or even let the second room be lent out in the v short term or move to a smaller place in the same building as I get my ducks in a row. I am so over being in someone else's control on this .. and I wont know til mid Dec if I can stay past early Jan... I would rather hang in there and not have to move twice next year...
Either way it just crystallises the knowledge I have to get myself ready to buy .. job, regular payments, mortgage , buy something .. anything ..
I did pop in to a EA in one area I am considering and dont know well, I was passing thru so. I am not spending time looking yet - I need the job first
Spoke to main contract who owes me loads - and impressed on how I need some cash in regularly. I have been promised some either Friday or Monday and assured I will be getting it regularly , so I am calmer but we will see. I do need a reference from the MD - maybe I should get it now - views anyone?
The 'girl maths' who basically took over a lot of my work insisted by the new company investors has continued to not be able to add up and is causing many clients to complain apparently...)
which given I found 6 figures discrepancy in a 5 month period when I checked, does not surprise me. It does slightly amuse me though (or a lot)
Either way though there is more work to do apparently but I am still going hard after a new contract, I will do the old work on the side as I dont trust the workload incoming...
Software - the bright sparkle in my life though are my 3 software courses and my home study.!!! Loving it, I am flying through and I forget how much my brain loves to solves puzzles and weirdly quick at it. It really might be the key to getting my new contract mixing my existing skill sets with the software angle. Worse case I will build some software portfolio pieces.. Allied with my new found knowledge in AI, chat gpt etc .. I am feeling quite excited ..
Not heard yet back from any jobs but applied for only two yesterday and none Thurs as busy day - tomorrow I will go hard
Toiletry use up - 2 empty eyeshadows and last bit in a pot of L*sh body scrub got thru and recycled, I still have a new pot of scrub waiting to go..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Oh crap to the rent hike … 😢 That is so exploitative after the increase last year! Good luck with the job hunting - we are heading into a tough time of year for it. Are there any recruiters or agencies you know that specialise in software builders? Or could you get some contacts / interest going through your personal network?
Re the reference from MD - yes get it now, and I might even be inclined to ask him to include some specific aspects if you think they’re important in your next role but he might miss them as unimportant to him.KKAs at 15.07.25:

Just thinking out loud and not done any serious investigation into it, so feel free to ignore.
Can you use your own company as your “employer” in discussions with rent people.
If its a limited company then you actually are an employee. So as long as the names are different then you could potentially produce payslips etc3 -
I didn’t think landlords were allowed such a big increase ? And if they are then they shouldn’t ! How are people supposed to be able to afford such a jump !
