O/S Daily Tuesday 10 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light cloud with the sun trying to peek through. Yesterday afternoon we had a heavy downpour which left a lot of laying water for a while. When I go home just over an hour later it didn't look even wet on the ground at home, so very localised.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans, fish and rice or fish and veg. Tonight will be chicken.
As expected yesterday was manic but the day passed quickly.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.Sorry to read about the family problems regarding grandchildren, it must be so hard to deal with, upsetting too.Good luck with getting your new bras Ruby.Florence, hope you're feeling better - I've had neuralgia and it's agonising.Gers, I had stockpiled a bit last year, well ,before Brexit really. What was my Brexit cupboard turned into a corona virus cupboard, it's empty now thank heavens. It was actually the bottom of what was dd's wardrobe when she lived here, and I had stuff in the shed as well, detergent, handsoap, shower gel. I've still got a few bottles of shower and hand stuff, it's in the landing cupboard now. I had flour and porridge stored in there as well.. I know we were told not to stockpile, but everything was so uncertain.I 'm going to be getting a few clothes ready for our caravan holiday, it's a task I dislike - I never get it just right.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Poppy and our other poorly people, take care folks11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start. Another lovely day promised, a repeat of yesterday. Sadly I couldn't take advantage of it!
I made a cracking start with the abandoned decluttering of all the girls outgrown toys, games, books etc yesterday morning and, just as I was on the last lap, packing outgrown nightware, dressing gowns etc away for the cs DD rang with an offer I couldn't refuse!! They were all going to Boundary Mills and did I want to join them. Well anything is better than decluttering and cleaning so I said yes! All 3 girls are bridesmaids in a couple of weeks and the 2 eldest still in need of shoes. The eldest had seen just what she wanted on Amazon so of course her mind was set, and she wasn't going to like any at BM!! Her mood didn't improve and needless to say, out of the 1,000s of shoes there she didn't see any she liked! I was reminded of the arguments I had with DD at the same age when shopping for clothes and shoes! Middle DGD was much easier to please and ended up with a lovely, if expensive, pair. For once I didn't get much at all, even the M & S outlet had nothing to tempt me.
This morning it's my usual Tuesday morning meet up with my oldest friend for a couple of coffees and lunch. Hopefully it should be nice enough to sit outside again. The sun has yet to appear but the local weatherman says it will do. Hope he's right.
RUBY it's worrying that you are getting no response from MARIE as I know she was far from well and awaiting treatment the last time we heard from her. She is in my thoughts a lot. FLORENCE I hope you get an appointment today if you are still in pain. ((HUGS)) galore for the rest of our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning folks.Scarlet - the trouble with stockpiling is it creates it's own kind of stress, when things are being used it's easy to worry about only having one or two left.Camelot - what a *insert appropriate rude word here* of a woman the mother is. Obviously the DGC are having too good a time with you and talking about how much they love being with their dad and you. ☹️❤️Yesterday turned into a gloriously sunny day. The gardener turned up and did so much work in three hours. When I came back from my jaunt she had cleared the big daisies which were all flat and forlorn, planted my new fuchsia and lupin, moved two plants, removed a thuggish plant and edged the grass. And she somehow moved a large planter to another part of the garden. 😀
Going to Oban was pleasant, only two drivers doing tourist speeds to get past. I did a little shopping only but forgot one item...it can wait. Then I took the bags of garden waste to the tip before lazing around a bit.Today the weather doesn't look too promising. My plan is to go into town to get an old-fashioned scrubbing brush and carbolic soap (does that exist still) and scrub the wooden shelving in the wee barn. I must get some stuff out of my car.My thoughts are with the poorlies. I really do miss them. Happy Tuesday to all.12 -
Morning All
Beautiful morning here but quite chilly, felt quite autumnul (love that word) when I got up. Been for a loch swim, it was so peaceful I didn't want to get out. Only myself and friend there apart from a couple who were out on a paddle board, on holiday from Wales in their camper van.
Bed has been stripped, hoping the weather stays dry so I can get it dry outside. I'm going into work later to do a few jobs then meeting a friend for lunch so a busy day ahead.
Hope you got on OK with the bra fitting Ruby, great you've found somewhere you feel comfortable with.
Sounds like your garden is coming along well Gers, your gardener is certainly a hard worker.
Enjoy your day out TA.
Hope you feel better today Florence.
Hugs to those feeling poorly.
My trip to the allotment saw 5 quite large courgettes waiting to be picked, I've given some away but more will be ready soon. There were also pickings of green beans, kale and peas. The sweetcorn and squash are coming along really well, just need some sunshine now.
The little one was great in the pool yesterday, she discovered she can stand up in the little pool so spent ages walking along all on her own, she drank a lot of the water though. She even went in the shower when we had finished, something she's never been keen on.
Have a good Tuesday, take care. XX10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
We are off to Milton Keynes this morning for L's funeral. Nice way to celebrate a birthday, but needs must.
Its sunny here so hoping its the same down there, I was going to wear trousers, but have changed my mind, will go in my Navy skirt and either a white or blue top.
I did get the laundry dry on the line yesterday. DB went to evergreens, there were not many people there he knew from his last visit 18 months ago. Not many people there.
It will be a ding dinner tonight, by the time we get back I will be shattered...... part of our journey is on the M1, fingers crossed. I will have the sat nav on which will tell us if there are any problems, will get onto the A5 as soon as I can.
Right, time to go and have a quick shower, cleaner is coming whilst we are out, so we will come home to a nice clean house.

Morning everyone
Just had my breakfast and have a few jobs to do before little one arrives. Yesterday's washing is on the line - it was in and out a couple of times yesterday having been soaked while I was in town. I gave up in the end as the rain kept clearing for half an hour then would start again. Today the showers aren't forecast till this afternoon - fingers crossed!
Little one and I are meeting one of my friends for lunch at the cafe down the hill. Hopefully she'll sit nicely in her highchair - we should get an hour. There were no other days this week when we were both free and my friend hasn't seen little one for ages. She loves the food in this cafe so should be good!
I'll take her reins so she can walk home and burn off some energy.
My mam got a new oven yesterday - she'd had her old one for 31 years!
She said she'd hoped it would outlast her!
Well I'm going to get on ....hope everyone has a good day and some sunshine

Morning all. The plumber is here replacing the downstairs toilet. I am not sure if I mentioned that a cabinet door above the toilet fell off in the middle of the night and destroyed the cistern. The mess was incredible. I have taken the opportunity to have a higher toilet fitted which should be easier for me. My back and hip are a bit easier so not having to take such strong painkillers. Gers great progress in the garden , Hope we will have some nice weather for you to enjoy it.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a slight chill in the air it should be nice later.
The bra fitting went very well if expensiveshe measured me as a C cup but the D cup felt much more comfortable so we went for that I bought three new ones which should do me for a while, its so nice to wear a pretty bra again rather than a plain but practical one.
Today I am meeting the lady from work to discuss my return and what job I will be doing, I think they are going to ask me to do a job which is physically beyond me now and that I dont want to do so it should be an interesting meeting ! I have a back up plan forming just in case !
DD has the day off today so is taking the dogs out which gives me a day off from it. The DW needs the breakfast things in it and putting on and I shall have a hoover through, the afternoon is then my own.
TA Marie has read the message but not replied yet, it has always taken her a long time to reply, I will let you know as soon as I hear anything xx
Camelot Im so sorry your GC are not coming now, I remember she was a madam when your DS was with her looks like she has not changed !
Have good days all xx9 -
Morning all. Sunny...for now...Back to Wales again today so won't be posting for the rest of the week. Went to the tip yesterday and took some bulky items with me, a couple of bamboo chairs I had aquired a few years ago but that have now seen the end of their days and various other bits and pieces, finally got rid of the bag of ash that's been sitting in the garage since the winter finished. Infusion went OK, no drastic side effects just a bit of leg pain. Now to gee up for removing some minor stuff from garage to make a space to see what can be gotten rid of and sold with no pain and what is going to have to wait for the clearance firm...waiting on a phone call from the estate agent and I still have some stuff to move downstairs for the charity to pick up.Sorry I haven't got up to speed about what's happening with everyone, but I did notice quite a few falls and bangs and grazes...Hope you're all staying safe -ish and the weather is good for you...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8
