O/S Daily Monday 9 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, grey start to the day here.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was good, a choice of either pork or chicken, or a slice of both and all the normal veg etc to go with it, some LO's, it was all ok.
Back to work this morning, chaos again no doubt.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Another wet and dull day ahead here, perfect for staying indoors and sorting out stuff, though I'm going up to Oban later this morning.Yesterday I cleared out all the very out of date food supplies from the garden barn. Nothing was salvageable which is awful. I'm not going to do any such stocking up again, it was all wasted. Mice had nibbled holes in the tetra packs of passata and eaten the contents. So, empty packets and mess too!The sunshine for almost all of the day except during the half hour I went out to the tip when the rain started to pour just as I got in the car and then stopped just as I arrived home. ☹️ When I came back I did a load of paperwork scanning, once I'd found the scanner, and then burnt the papers in the chimera. I also organised the uplift and delivery of the final item from DM's flat - my armchair. It's going to DM's cleaner who asked for it.Today is a trip up to Oban. I need some heavy duty storage boxes for the barn. Some things will have to go in there meanwhile. I'm not sure if the gardener is coming or not, it'll be weather dependant I suppose.Bella - I used Frankfurt airport a lot when I was younger as my family lives near Heidelberg. Only my aged aunt remains there and she's living with Alzheimer's disease. If there were direct flights again I'd be on a plane. I'll just have to be more patient! Most of our COVID restrictions are now lifted apart from mask wearing. I think easy does it for me.My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing. Happy Monday to all.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. We have sunshine this morning! And NO rain is forecast with the next few days sounding promising too. Have we finally seen the end of the rain for a while.
Now there are no Olympics to keep me glued to the tv I plan on catching up with the jobs that were postponed and maybe resume the decluttering of all the girls' stuff that was started almost 3 weeks ago! Lots more stuff to declutter elsewhere but I started that job so I will finish that first. All the rain has encouraged more weeds to sprout so that's on the to do list as well.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and the MIA. Thinking of you all. Take care one and all and be safe x

Morning all wet but humid here dog has been walked at times like this i wish we had a cat. Holiday evening went well we narrowed it down to two choices a cruise around spain from Southampton and a hotel in Morocco cue Sunday we go to double check the cruise and it had disappeared and no cruises at all from Southampton so i guess our choice is made we won't be booking until a week before and after the next travel list review.
Today we are having a new alarm installed i wasn't happy with the old one and it needed updating I will also be emailing the renderer to get booked in for that to be done and I may give the carpenter a call to chase
Gers sometimes its the little things that have the most poignant memories
Right better get on hugs to all our poorlies those looking after them and those MIA
Have a great day whatever you are up to stay safe and hopefully dry

Morning all; rather dull here at the moment.
Today I have the joy of a visit to the Tip with our garden waste but, whilst I am nearby, I can also collect a book that will be left out for me on someone's doorstep. We have a local FB book sharing group and hope in time to be able to make it into a Community Library as one of the churches is happy to host some sort of storage cupboard in their grounds.
Later on I need to make some fairy cakes as DGS will be here tomorrow and likes to take a few home for his lunchbox.
Yesterday's music session in the park had 4 attendees and we played 2 hours of tunes, between dodging the showers, so all went well.
Guess I'd better get moving now; have a good day everyone.12 -
Morning All
Fairly bright this morning but it will probably rain soon! Yesterday turned into a really miserable day, the flowers are all looking very sad.
I was getting ready to go and collect the DGC yesterday when DS1 phoned to say they weren't at their Mum's house where he was picking them up. Turns out their Mum doesn't want them to come here so they were staying with her - so much for not having childcare. Their Mum is quite flaky which must be very unsettling for the children, I just hope they are OK.
Anyway, swimming has been booked so will take the little one, I've already been for a swim in the loch, it was like glass and the views absolutely stunning, really enjoyed it.
Washing to go on later but it will probably stay inside, allotment visit planned to pick anything that's ready (probably more courgettes!).
Happy Monday, take care. XX12 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
We had heavy rain yesterday, need to see what damage it has done to the garden, especially the pots. There is a fair breeze this morning, have the washer on, hope to hang them out.
Camelot - db's son is in a similar cleft stick with his youngest son. He drove up to collect him last Saturday and was told by his ex that she wanted him back, he was not allowed to stay overnight, so SS had to drive him home 2 round trips over 200 miles. Apparently C had told his mother he wanted to spend every weekend with his dad, she was not happy, C turned round and told her he was 16 next year and would no longer need her permission to visit his Dad..........
DB will be in the garden for a short while this morning, he is going to evergreens this afternoon, they started back last week. I had to get a prize for the raffle when I went to Aldi.
Supper tonight will be cold lamb and salad. fresh fruit for dessert.10 -
Morning all
We have had torrential rain in the night and there is flooding in the next village, more rain due during the day so I hope its not as heavy.
Im off for a bra fitting this morning at a place for people who have had mastectomy's I went before my op to get one for post op and the lady was so lovely, she had a mastectomy too so was very helpful and you dont feel uncomfortable about your scars etc as she has the same, I will be interested to see what size I am, I think a B or C cup, I will need to buy at least two new ones.
OH went to the boot sale / market yesterday and bought a leg of lamb from the butcher for £10it was a lovely big one so we had a roast yesterday with the leftovers frozen for another day. Tonight we will have the pizza we were going to have yesterday.
I have messaged Marie to give her everyones love but have had no reply yet, I will let you know if I hear from her.
Have good days all xxx12 -
Wet here first thing but the sun is out now.
I had pain in my face yesterday - it got worse during the night. Phoned my dentist - all emergency appointments for today are gone. Not even sure if it is a tooth. The left side of my face hurts - pain goes to my ear and up into my head plus I can't open my mouth very much without it hurting. My Dad suffered with Neuralgia - maybe I have got that.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Afternoon everyone
Florenceem - hope the pain eases later - tooth/mouth pain is awful
Camelot - it's a shame you've missed out on having your grand children.
I'll have little one after nursery for a couple of hours. DD took her to a farm park yesterday with a friend and her baby - little one had had a great time and DD says she is dying to tell me about it. There are some lovely photos.
I need to go into town soon to collect a prescription - it looks like it's going to pour down any minute!
Yesterday it rained most of the afternoon and night, with some really heavy downpours at times.
I have washing to dry but will leave it till I get home.
Hope everyone is having a good day

Hi everyone, we've had some really heavy downpours over the weekend. The park is flooded, what a surprise!.The trouble is the council have left a lot of it unmowed and just cut a few paths through so you can't really tell where is under water until you step in it - ask me how I knowI have been MIA so hope everyone is ok. Went to one of our old neighbours funeral on Thursday, & we heard of another passing too, the lovely chappie who owns the outbuildings where Dh rents his storage, we've known him & his wife ever since we moved into our 1st house nearby. His daughter has said to carry on as normal using it, but we think there could be changes long term. I've certainly been busy making sympathy cards over the last weekDH & DS2 have just called for some lunch, so the loaf I bought this morning when I had a trip to town has depleted by half. Still, it's cheaper than buying it out. I got 2 packs of YS pork saltimbocca, in Marks so that will be for our tea. That's all for now, I'm going for a catch up x
