I work for the NHS full time
I also work for an NHS contract - part-time
I pay National Insurance on my full time wage
I also pay National Insurance on my part-time wage
But then underneath the ins and outs it states that I also pay 'Employers National Insurance'
Each time I pay the 'Employers National Insurance' it is more than the National Insurance
When I noticed this at the beginning of my employment with this 'non for profit' company, I was told that there was nothing that I could do about it, no conversation about it or explanation.
Are the staff here being conned?
I am permanent staff, I am not agency, and I get the impression that something is amiss
Please can someone help?

Your employer pays employers national insurance. It is shown at the bottom of your payslip for reference only. It will be more than the employees national insurance that you pay. Add up the items that make up your net pay and you will see that the employers national insurance is not included0

You don't pay it! Your employer does. As stated above.I once had a very stupid mortgage company look at my payslips and included it as MY cost. Surely they must be used to seeing this kind of thing in PAYE?! Can't believe I had to point that out to them. They're supposed to be professionals experienced in this kind of thing!0

Is the employers National insurance a deduction on the part time contract work? Could you be self employed for the contract part using an umbrella company?0

Your part-time contract is most likely "Inside IR35". If that's the case, it means that you do have to pay both the Employers NIC and Employees NIC, as well as any agency margin and umbrella/payroll fees.
The assignment rate should be high enough to compensate for this though, and remember the assignment rate is not your salary e.g.:
Assignment Rate minus Agency Margin minus Umbrella/Payroll Fee minus Employers NIC = Gross Salary
I believe you're entitled to both a Status Determination Statement (SDS) and Key Information Document (KID) which should explain all of this in more detail.
