Inexpensive Tree and Decs

I usually spend £15 on a huge real Xmas fur tree every year from one of the local farmer who sells them up here in Northumberland.
However this year due to financial matters and saving space I just want a small (real or fake) Xmas tree.
I went to the farm I usually go to but was told that ALL trees where £15 regardless of there size. I simply can not afford £15 for a small one as it is not worth it this year.
I'm by myself this year so was not going to bother but TBH it is kinda gloomy in here so I just want something cheap so at least I can remember it is Xmas.
So has anyone picked up a Xmas tree bargain this year? I may check my local market tomorrow for last minute sale prices on one maybe.
Do places like ADSA and such slash the prices just before Xmas on them by any chance?0 -
Somerfield are selling their Christmas trees off already. You can get a 6' one for £2.50, or a 4' for £1.50(?)
They were also doing their lights cheap too.0 -
Ooh nice one, thank you so much... there is one in the town next to me so I'll pop along tomorrow with my fingers crossed.
Thanks.0 -
Always remember that, if you're starting from scratch with your christmas ornaments, it's FAR cheaper to decorate a small tree than a big one. I know that seems obvious - but it can get overlooked.
I started with a 4ft artificial tree about 17 years ago (after separating from ex-OH), now I have a 7ft one. Every year I've bought a few more ornaments and the occasional extra set of lights (always sticking to the gold/cream/clear lights theme) then when tree was full of decs graduated to the next size tree. Last year I replaced two sets of lights with multi-function sets (200's) and this year a few more decs and the most gorgeous tree-skirt! I am very careful about putting things away in January - my daughter thinks I'm fanatical - but I don't care. I love my tree and so does everybody else, including the grandkids.0 -
Asda's have a sale on, not sure how much the others are, but this morning the tiniest ones were 50p each.0

I was shopping in Homebase on Christmas Eve last year and the guy offered me a tree for free!0

Wilkinsons fake trees are fairly reasonable plus I noticed that they had some glass ornaments for 99p - so I bought one (a snowman sitting on a fircone). I try and buy a new decoration every year.0
