Sacking our mortgage broker

Hi there, has anyone ever sacked their broker mid-application?

The two brokers we've had at L&C have been absolutely useless so far, it's 10 weeks since our application went in with Nationwide and we don't find anything out unless we call Nationwide ourselves.

Is it possible to sack them without having to start from scratch? Our conveyancing is going through L&C too if that's relevant, but they've been pretty good so wouldn't want to change anything there.

I've complained already but nothing has changed. Any advice?

@hellosunshine17 If you are changing brokers within L&C, you should not have to start from scratch. If you are changing from L&C to another firm, the current application can't be carried over, if that's what you are asking.
Conveyancing should not be impacted even if you change brokers as L&C is likely to just be an introducer so they'll get a small payment when it completes, even if you change the broker firm.

hellosunshine17. Years back, I engaged with L&C and I personally would never touch them again. It was just bad experience with them. However saying that, there might be some good ones within L&C that others might have encountered but I certainly did not.

Wishing you all the best for your move!
  • I’ve had awful service from L&C to the point I’ve found another broker who’s helped me get a mortgage in principle with a lender a 2 year fixed rate at a lower apr & saving £200 per month in mortgage payments. The new broker has made more communication in 48-72 hours compared to 5 weeks w  L&C
An official complaint has gone in as unacceptable standard
