Cabot financial have entered a default EVERY MONTH??!

Hello everyone,

I made a post in January because I discovered that cabot financial had made an entry on my credit file which is not mine. I have sent a prove it letter but have not heard anything back. I was sent an invite to upgrade my bank account and I called them to go through the steps. The bank then said the application was declined because 2 out of the 3 reference agencies they ran the credit check through had "information" which would not allow the application to proceed. I was shocked so I checked all three reference agencies and on experian, cabot have entered a default EVERY MONTH going back as far as I can access on the file which I think was 12 or 18 months. Cabot have also added themselves as an "account" on equifax. Are they allowed to do this? My rating has gone down to the low 800s. Is his why my account won't upgrade? Where do I even start with this??

Advice is appreciated, thank you all

If the debt is not yours, follow Cabot`s complaints procedure, they have 8 weeks to issue a final response.

Defaults stay on file for 6 years, what you see is the monthly status update.

If you remain unhappy after that, escalate the matter to the ICO, and also the FOS.

The complaint mechanism's exist, all you have to do is access them.
