Wage arrestment

Just a quick question really. I'm in Scotland and have a wage arrestment for council tax.
Question is, would this effect any mortgage application?

@scotslass101 It may affect affordability if your payslip shows a deduction for the wage arrestment. The underwriter may query the details and factor it into their decision making (depends on the rest of the scenario).I can't claim to be fully conversant with how wage arrestments work so I might be wrong but I think they don't show up on credit reports.

Thank you, that is helpful. It doesn't appear on credit file, only on payslips.0

How long have you been paying and how long have you got left? Could you not just call up and ask them to repay it by direct debit yourself instead of a wage arrestment? I'm sure that would look more favourable than them having had to arrest your wages when it comes to underwriting. I pay 50 a month for old council tax they insisted I owed from when I was at college and excempt and the underwriters didn't even query the payment and I'd forgot to declare it.1
