Hi! I need some advice please. I recently did an assessment with Step Change and was advised to do a payment suspension with all of my creditors. I had contacted all of them and since none of my debts are in arrears (I have been paying the minimum amount for more than a year now), they are not able to help me out until I would be able to set up an account with Step Change, which I assume they are referring to as DMP. I also got a written correspondence from Barclays regarding a termination of notice and has given me 2 months before my account goes to default. I am now at loss on what should be my next step. Step Change has advised me to offer a token of payment to Barclays but reading the posts here I am just wondering to let my debts go into default so I can just set up a DMP. It is the first time something like this has happened to me as I was always on top of my finances until I hit a block of road in my life.

Would it be better if I just set my mind into defaulting my debts so that I would be able to move forward and set up a DMP rather than trying to sort out a payment suspension with my creditors?

Also, I have a loan with my bank which I only have a year left to pay. If I go self managing my DMP rather than with SC, would I be able to continue paying off the loan? I'm rather keen on paying it off. It is just my credit cards which are crippling me with interest rates which I would want to get sorted and done with.

Thank you for those who would be able to answer me.
