I have just returned home and there is a caravan parked on my driveway.
I have been away for 5 days staying with my son.
There is a registration number on the caravan.
Can anyone please advise me the best way to get this van removed.

What a horrendous 'coming home' present. Do you know anyone with a vehicle (tractor?) with a tow bar????
Is the vehicle number traceable in any way?#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661 -
I am not too sure how to go about tracing the number plate but I do know who drive the car.
I live on my own and the person who owns it is a gentleman and I am a pensioner and am scared to approach him.
I would prefer to get it moved legally.0 -
Are you sure you wouldn't rather come to an amicable arrangement for the use of your spare driveway? It could be a good little earner, especially if you allow the owner to install a ground anchor that his caravan can be locked to, to prevent theft. You could offer to call the police if you hear anyone tampering with it in the night. I would suggest you charge him £7 per week (or £1 per day) payable every quarter in advance.
If you do want it moved legally, and have house insurance with legal expenses cover, call the legal helpline that your insurers provide and they will look into how you might do this. You should also think about getting some gates installed, or a padlock to lock gates that you already have.
The caravan could be stolen, I would report that is has been dumped on your driveway to the Police via their 101 telephone number, if only to protect yourself from any suggestion of involvement in or aiding the perpetrator of the crime. If the police come and check it and confirm it is owned by the owner/registered keeper of the car, I think they might help you "repatriate" it by having a word with the owner.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -

I managed to track down the owner and asked them to move the car and caravan.
They have moved the caravan onto the road and they moved their car to the next door neighbours driveway.
Thanks for all the replies and help.0 -
Good you've solved this from your perspective but do you know why he has parked his car on someone else's driveway?0

No and I am not interested as long as the car or caravan appear on my driveway0
