Garmin Fenix 5 Plus very difficult to charge

I have a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus watch, which I bought from Wiggle (https://www.wiggle.co.uk/) in January 2019.  Since March 2020 (when I emailed Wiggle); I have problems with charging the device.  I have to sit there for about 10 minutes every time - the device does not recognise the charger during this period.  Eventually the watch vibrates and then a notification message is displayed stating it is charging e.g. 5% (meaning it is 5% charged) progressing to 100% with time.  I have spoken to Wiggle and Garmin and I have tried cleaning the charge port as described here: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=pVTReaJt0Q5FfLf9AjxGY7.

I have tried three cables and I have also tried charging via the computer and charging via multiple wall sockets.  I have no issues charging any other devices e.g. headphones; Surface Pro etc.

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?
